chapter twenty-six, in love?

FRANCESCAS HEART FELT AS IF IT WAS GOING TO SOAR, ever since that....night...Francesca couldn't think straight. Her heart thumped in her chest and heat rose to her cheeks whenever Aaron and her were in the same room.

However, it seemed to be that Aaron was always busy. Francesca would be lying if she said it hadn't hurt her, the constant nagging of servants keeping her away from her husband-to-be. Almost every time the two were in a room together he was rushed off, and she knew he hadn't intended it....he wouldn't do that, right? He wouldn't provide Francesca a night of pure bliss and affection only to take her heart in his hands and crush it, right? Except....maybe he would, at least, that's what it seemed like.

It hurt Francesca, truly. Her heart that once felt as if it was exploding with joy now felt as if it was being squeezed with anger.

Currently, Francesca was on her way to go taste some cakes with the Queen. The Queen was already there and Francesca was running late. She had just seen and talked to Aaron for the first time since that night, and she couldn't wipe the smile of her face.

He had left a hour ago or so as he had to go to a tux fitting with his best friend, Ricky. Although, it seemed as if they were a bit preoccupied.

As Francesca rounded the corner she heard the two talking, and with the words they were saying, the smile was wiped clean off her face.

"-she's just so perfect, and beautiful and kind and she doesn't care what people think of her, except when she does. She's smart, and not just street smart but book smart. She's just...everything. She's everything to me." Aaron's voice was filled with love, devotion and passion.

Francesca's heart felt as if it had ripped itself out of its chest, there was no way Aaron was talking about her! Sure, they had sex and they were going to be married soon but that didn't mean anything! He was in love with someone else, that much was clear. And it hurt Francesca like a knife being twisted in her heart.

Tears welled in her eyes as she jumped to the conclusion, her mind imagining the worst possible scenario.

Did he mean everything, then? Did he mean every word he said to her, every bit of love and care he did a few nights ago, was it meaningless? It couldn't have been, he handled her with such love and affection that there was no possible way that he didn't mean it. Right? He wasn't that cruel.

Francesca turned on her heel, wiping her tears as she sped to her room. She didn't care if she was going to miss the cake tasting, cake and the wedding was the last thing on her mind. Her heart felt as if it was shattering into a million pieces, her world breaking beneath her and taking her down with it.

Everything was going so well, and now it all blew up in flames. This had to be her fault, right? There was no other explanation for this event, it had to be single-handedly Francesca's fault.

You know what made it worse? Throughout this whole thing, Francesca came to a revelation. She was head over heels, utterly and completely in love with Aaron Tveit. She supposed she should be grateful, not many people in marriages loved their husbands or wives, but by some miracle she loved her husband to be.

She was to be his wife in a week and a half, she would no longer be Francesca Heart, she would be Francesca Tveit. And part of her heart leaped for joy at the thought, whilst the other lay on the ground, aching and dying. How was she supposed to do this? How was she supposed to marry him, rule beside him and provide him an heir when she knew he was in love with another woman. With her luck, it was probably Linette, as horrible as the girl may have been.

But it wasn't, the words Aaron were saying to Ricky were true and meaning full; the words were directed towards Francesca. It was horrible timing, really. He was not talking about another woman, but Francesca has always been one to jump to conclusions.
