chapter forty, cup of tea.

FRANCESCA AND AARONS LIVES HAD BEEN BLISSFUL, it had been weeks since their last encounter with Lord Watson, and those weeks were amazing. They were unable to be apart from eachother, they were too in love that their hearts would ache in pain when they were apart.

Recently, Francesca had been sick. Aaron would nurse her back to health, worried for her. He hardly left her side, instead doing all of his work in their bedroom as she lay her head in his lap.

Now, Francesca was on her way to his mother's chambers. She had a suspicion that just needed to be either turned down or confirmed. A soft knock was what let Francesca in to Victorias room.

"Sit, my dear. We can have some tea and treats," Victoria smiled, pulling her daughter in-law into a hug. The two sat down and got to talking.

"Victoria...I do have a question, if I may ask it?"

"Yes, sweetheart?" Victoria asked, sipping on her tea.

"How did you...how did you find out you were pregnant?" Francesca asked, sipping on her own tea as her nerves wracked her body.

"Well.....sweetheart," Victoria cleared her throat, putting her cup down. "How much are you two.....being intimate?"

"Quite a lot, actually-"

"Nevermind that!" Victoria interrupted, "What are your symptoms? Fatigue? Morning sickness? Night sickness? Sickness? Extreme hunger? Missed menstruation?"

"Well, I have been very tired lately, yes, very hungry and I've also been sick every morning for about a month."

"Sick as in....vomitting?" Victoria asked, looked at her daughter in law with hopeful eyes. Francesca nodded, causing a slight smile to appear on the older woman's voice.

"Well, I'd say you're pregnant, dear girl. But, we should get to the physician to confirm it," Victoria smiled, standing up. She offered her arm to Francesca, who took it gratefully.

As the two walked the halls of the castle, they ran into Aaron. Aaron, who hadn't seen Francesca since that morning, had been antsy all day. He saw her and quickly left his conversation, walking over to her and kissing her forehead.

"Darling, where have you been?" He asked softly, cupping her cheek. Francesca smiled and leaned into his touch, not noticing the concern in his eyes.

"I was with your mother, we were having tea."

"Oh," Aaron said, finally realizing that his mother was right there. He smiled and kissed her cheek. "I see," he said softly, smiling at the two. "And where are you headed now?"

"The physician," Francesca said softly, smiling up at her husband. His smile was wiped away in seconds as his eyes roamed over her body.

"Why? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" He asked quickly, his eyes full of fear and his heart pounding.

"She's quite alright dearest, she's chaperoning me. I have a headache and in need of medication," Victoria said softly, looking at her son.

Before Aaron could intervene, Francesca and Victoria were walking away. He started to follow him when his guards called him over for some kingdom issues.

The two arrived at the physician, and a few hours later they found out the answer. The two rushed back to Victorias room as Francesca looked blankly at the floor.

"My dear, are you alright? This should be a joyous occasion! You're carrying the heir to the throne! You're starting a family with your husband!" Victoria said, cupping Francesca's cheek. "Are you not happy?"

"I'm...I'm so happy...but what...what if he isn't? What if he doesn't want this? What if he thinks I'll fat when I start to show? Me and Aaron....we've never talked about having children..."

A long silence fell upon them, but Victorias smile never faltered. "My dear, he has always wanted a family. Ever since he was a little boy, he used to say how much he wanted a son and a daughter, four children at least. A bit family is something he's always dreamed of, and I know you want it too. As for him thinking you're fat? You're silly to think he'll think anything other than of your beauty. There is nothing to worry about." Victoria reassured, causing Francesca to relax entirely. She knew Aaron wasn't like that, and she knew she was being silly. But now she had to figure out how to tell him.

That would be hard.
