chapter thirty-seven, my beautiful, beautiful girl.
THE DAY FRANCESCA HAD BEEN DREADING HAD ARRIVED, her family was coming to the castle to meet Aaron.
She ordered everything and watched over everything. She needed it to be perfect. She didn't want to give her family another reason to look down upon her. Somehow, her nerves were even more prominent since this would be the first time her family truly met Aaron. What if their hatred rubbed off on Aaron? What if he finally realized how much of a mess Francesca was?
Within a few moments, before Francesca could stop it, her family entered the throne room. Her mother smiles, a fake smile that could only really be deciphered by Francesca.
"My dear, darling daughter," Loring smiled, pulling Francesca into a tight hug. It was like Loring was trying to crush her.
"Sister, your crown is crooked," Lissette reached out to try and fix it but Francesca backed up before she could. Amouri, Maxwell and Melissa hugged her gently, commenting on how beautiful she looked.
"Francesca! My dear! You've grown absolutely beautiful," Soriettea smiled, pulling Francesca into a hug. This didnt go unnoticed by Francesca. Up until now, Soriettea never wanted anything to do with the younger girl. But now she did?
"Francesca," Garret smiled coldly, clasping his hand on her shoulder. The young girl instantly shrugged it off, hating the feel of his cold and unwelcomed touch.
"So, my king," Anthony, Francesca's father, began. "I trust she has been good for you? Tending to your needs?" Anthony smiles wickedly, causing Aaron to grimace.
"Yes, she has been absolutely perfect, without even trying."
"Well, don't be afraid to smack her upside the head if she gets out of line. Every man needs to make sure his property is in order," Anthony smiles.
"Excuse me? Are you suggesting I hurt my wife?" Aaron's eyes filled with disgust, the thought of even plucking a single hair from Francesca's head made him physically ill.
"You haven't before?" Anthony questions. Just as Aaron was about to respond, a lout yelling was heard. It was Francesca. Aaron instantly walked over to his wife.
"You all hate me and then act like I'm the best thing that's ever happened to you just because I'm the Queen! You don't get anything for having me as a sister! And by the way, mother, when I have children, you will have no claim over them!" Francesca finally snapped, her heart pounding in her ears and her face flushed with rage.
They had been so fake to her, just because she now adorned a royal title. They thought she owed them something when in reality, they owed her so much.
"You do not speak to your family like that, Francesca!" Garret yelled, grabbing the young queens arm. He was instantly punched in the face, but not by Francesca.
"Who the fuck do you think you are! You do not fucking put your hands on my wife, your queen!" Aaron bellowed, stepping in between Francesca and her brother in law. His fists were clenched and his heart pounded, rage filling his senses. "You will never speak to her in that manor again or you will never speak to her. Do you understand me?" Aaron's cold voice rang through the palace halls, the rumors now becoming true. When Garret didn't answer fast enough, Aaron grabbed his lapel and shoved him against the wall. "I said, do you understand me?" Once Garret nodded his head he was let go.
"Aaron-"
"Get out. Everyone except for my wife." Aaron practically growled, his feet carrying him over to his precious jewel, Francesca.
"Are you alright, my dear?" He asked, giving her a once over. The doors to the throne room boomed as they shut, leaving the two of them alone.
"I'm just fine, my love. How is your hand?" She took it in her grasp, scanning the knuckles to see open cuts on them. "You're bleeding," Francesca mumbled, running her thumb along the red flesh.
"Do not worry about me, dearest. I am proud of you. They had no right to treat you that way," Aaron smiled, kissing her forehead. The two stayed like that for a few moments; living in the bliss of love.
"I've.....I've never known love before you, Aar..." Francesca spoke softly, her voice soft and crackled. A singular tear rolled down her rosy cheek, but it didn't escape the soft pad of Aaron's thumb.
"My dear, sweet, beautiful, beautiful girl...you deserved so much more than what you got," Aaron whispered tenderly, pulling her close against his chest. Francesca buried her face into his neck, finding peace in his arms. "I will make sure you are never without it love for as long as I shall live," Aaron kissed her head, his words holding a promise for the future.
Nothing would come between them, hopefully. Everything would work out, hopefully. And the two would always love each other.
hopefully.
