chapter twenty-nine, how could you tell?

AS AARON AND FRANCESCA WALKED THROUGH THE ROYAL, they were flanked on either side by the King and Queen, Agnar and VictoriaThe atmosphere was relaxed, as it usually was in the seclusion of the grounds. But now, their parents noticed something different between the two.

"You know," Victoria began, a subtle smile on her lips, "we've noticed something different between you two."
"What do you mean?" Aaron asked, feigning ignorance.

Agnar chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Oh, don't pretend like you don't know what we're talking about."

Francesca blushed slightly, looking down at her hands, but Aaron remained cool and composed, though a hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"We've seen the way you look at each other," Victoria continued. "The stolen glances, the subtle touches, and the undeniable chemistry between you."

The King and Queen exchanged a knowing look, a smile playing on their lips.

"We've been waiting for you two to finally admit what's been going on between you," Victoria continued, pausing to watch as a butterfly fluttered past them.

Aaron and Francesca shared a knowing glance, their cheeks flushed with embarrassment. They had been so careful to keep their feelings hidden, but it seemed like their parents had figured it out all along.

"Well," Aaron began, clearing his throat. ""We... we have admitted our feelings for each other."

Victoria let out a soft laugh, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "We're happy for you both," she said, placing a hand on each of their arms. "It's about time you two stopped denying your feelings."

Agnar nodded in agreement, a proud smile on his face. "We couldn't have picked a better match for our son."

Francesca looked up shyly, her cheeks still rosy, as she spoke. "Thank you, Victoria, Agnar. We....We didn't think anyone knew."

"Yes, we've known for a while now," Victoria replied, her voice gentle. "We could see it in your faces whenever you were together."

Agner put a hand on Aaron's shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "We're just glad you both finally admitted it to each other."

Francesca gave a shy smile, still surprised that they had known all this time. "I suppose we weren't as discreet as we thought we were."

Victoria smiled warmly, her eyes glittering with maternal affection. "It's been quite entertaining watching the two of you attempt to hide your feelings," she said, a hint of mischief in her voice.

Agner chuckled softly, amused by their attempts to keep their relationship a secret. "We've had bets on how long it would take for you to finally admit it to each other."
Aaron and Francesca shared a sheepish glance, their cheeks tinting with a mix of embarrassment and laughter.

"And you have no idea how many times we've had to stop ourselves from interfering," Victoria added, shaking her head in mock despair. "The temptation to lock you both in a room together and force you to talk was strong."
Agner let out a hearty laugh, the sound booming through the air. "But we knew you'd come to your senses sooner or later."

Victoria smiled fondly at the two of them. "You know, it's wonderful that you two are best friends," she said. "It's a solid foundation for a romantic relationship."

Agner nodded in agreement. "Your friendship has always been unbreakable, and now it's blossomed into something even more beautiful."

As Victoria and Agner walked deeper into the garden, Aaron and Francesca lingered behind, watching them go. Once they were out of earshot, Francesca turned to Aaron with a shy smile. "I can't believe they knew all along," she said, her voice soft.

Aaron chuckled, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Looks like we weren't as stealthy as we thought we were."

Francesca blushed, realizing the irony of their failed attempts to conceal their feelings. "I suppose it was only a matter of time before they found out."

Aaron reached out and took hold of her hand, his touch gentle. "They seem happy about it, at least."

Francesca looked up at him, a soft smile on her lips. "I
suppose they are. And I guess I can't blame them for wanting us to be together."

Aaron squeezed her hand tightly, a mixture of excitement and nervousness in his gaze. "I can't believe our wedding is just two days away."

Francesca's heart skipped a beat at the reminder, the reality of their impending marriage suddenly becoming more tangible. "It's hard to believe it's really happening."

Aaron moved closer to Francesca, his free hand coming up to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. "I know," he said, his voice dropping to a murmur. "But I couldn't be happier."

Francesca's eyes fluttered closed as she leaned into his touch, her heart fluttering in her chest. "Neither could I."

With a soft sigh, Aaron leaned in closer, his lips just a breath away from hers. "Can I kiss you?" he whispered.

Francesca's breath hitched in her throat as his words hung in the air. "Yes," she breathed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Please."As if on cue, Aaron's lips met hers in a soft, tender kiss, igniting a fire within them that neither had ever experienced before. Aaron's hand cupped the side of her face, his fingers tangling in her hair as he pulled her closer, the kiss growing deeper and more urgent. His tongue slid gently between her parted lips, exploring the sweetness of her mouth as a low moan escaped from the back of his throat. Francesca's arms found their way around his neck, her nails scratching lightly against his skin, her body pressed tightly against his as they lost themselves in the moment.

All at once, the memories from the two night before came to the forefront of their minds. Although, the two knew there was nothing they could do until after the wedding. Perhaps that's what made it all the more sweeter, a forbidden romance in some sense of the world. Aaron was intoxicated with the taste of his soon to be wife, she tasted like the forbidden fruit he thought he could never have. But he could have it now. Well, in two days he could.

Let's hope the happy couple don't get any cold feet, yeah?
