Hey guys hope you enjoy the story 💛💛

Alex's POV

I was so tired by the time I saw Ann and Silas walk hand in hand into the room. They were whispering something to each other and a minute later Silas kissed her. Okay, this was new. I have been taking care of Mike who kept running around and I was tired. His mother told me that he was my responsibility and I was fulfilling that. He wasn't making it easy though.

I am the only person among our friends who has been to Mike's house. I don't know why he doesn't trust our friends with the truth about his mother. He was so scared the day he was telling me this.

I had gone to his house several times but never had I seen his mother. I was in his room reading a novel he had given me when his mother walked in. Mike was asleep and I wasn't planning on waking him up. Hannah, Mike's mother asked me if I wanted to eat something and I never say no to free food.

"You must be Alex. I’m Hannah, Mike’s mom." She said offering me a plate of pancakes. I ate one and hummed with a smile before saying.

"Thanks, Mrs. Carter. It’s nice to meet you. These pancakes are fucking mind-blowing too." She smiled and sat besides me shaking her head.

'Please, call me Hannah. I’d offer you coffee, but I’m afraid my coffee machine is as reliable as Mike's ability to remember where he put the house keys." She said with a laugh. I laughed at that too taking another pancake from my plate.

"This is fine with me. And yeah Mike is full of shit at times." I wonder why elderly people nowadays liked teenagers calling them by their names. Satan's era!

"Oh, you have no idea. Just last week, he lost his phone for three hours. Turns out, he was using it to call himself from his other phone." She said laughing hard and I almost choked.

"No way!" I said in between laughter tears flowing down my cheeks.

"Way! And he wasn’t even embarrassed. Just casually mentioned he thought it had grown legs and walked away." She added dying of laughter.

"Classic Mike. He’s got this talent for turning the simplest tasks into epic quests." I said wiping my tears.

"Oh, it gets better. He once tried to fix a leaky sink by duct-taping a rubber duck to it. I’m still not sure what he thought that would accomplish." She said taking my plate to the sink before walking to the sofa urging me to follow her.

"The duck was probably just there for moral support." I said with a full grin.

"Exactly! And do you remember the time he tried to impress a date by cooking dinner? He somehow managed to set off the smoke alarm with a bowl of cereal." She said and I remembered Mike mentioning it.

"That’s impressive. I didn’t even know cereal could catch fire." I said laughing hard.

"Oh, it can if you leave it in the microwave long enough. You know, the fire department still talks about that night." It was the night after I did my own fire epic nonsense.

"Mike really is something else." I said wiping my tears and taking out my phone from my pocket.

"He certainly is. But, despite all the craziness, he’s got a heart of gold. Just don’t ask him to handle anything remotely mechanical." She said calming down. She reached for the remote turning on the tv.

"Got it. I’ll make sure not to ask him to fix my car anytime soon." I joked and she smiled at that.

"Good call. And if he ever says he’s got a new “brilliant” idea, just remember: it’ll probably involve duct tape and some very questionable logic." She added with a grin and I was so amazed of this woman.
