23: Light in the Shadows

The group stood in stunned silence, watching as the once terrifying werewolf now happily wagged its tail like an overgrown, fluffy puppy. The chaos that had filled the room seemed to dissipate, leaving behind an almost surreal calm.

"Did... did we just turn a werewolf into a puppy?" Hoseok asked, his voice filled with disbelief as he bent down to pet the creature, which eagerly nuzzled his hand.

"It sure looks like it," Namjoon replied, still trying to process what had just happened. "But how?"

Taehyung blinked, shaking his head as if to clear it. "I honestly have no idea. I just... I just wanted to protect everyone."

Jin, who had been cowering behind a chair, slowly emerged from his hiding spot. "Well, whatever you did, it worked. Nice job, Taehyung."

Taehyung blushed slightly at the praise, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I didn't do anything special..."

Y/n walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder, giving him a reassuring smile. "You saved us, Taehyung. That's more than special."

The puppy barked happily, jumping up to lick Taehyung's face, causing him to laugh despite the strange circumstances.

"Well, at least we don't have to worry about being mauled anymore," Yoongi said dryly, though even he couldn't hide the small smile tugging at his lips as he watched the puppy playfully nip at Hoseok's shoelaces.

As the group began to relax, the shifting walls of the room slowly settled back into their original form, the flickering lights fading away until everything seemed normal again—or as normal as things could be in this bizarre situation.

Jungkook sighed in relief, collapsing onto a chair. "Finally, some peace and quiet."

Just as the words left his mouth, a loud crash echoed from the other side of the room, causing everyone to jump.

"What now?" Y/n groaned, her shoulders sagging in exasperation.

The crash was followed by a loud, cackling laugh that sent shivers down their spines. Slowly, they turned toward the source of the noise.

In the corner of the room, where there had been nothing just moments before, a figure now stood. Dressed in a flamboyant red and black outfit, with a twisted grin on his face and a cane in hand, was none other than Dr. Facilier.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he drawled, his voice dripping with malice as he slowly approached the group. "A bunch of lost little souls, stumbling around in a world they don't understand."

Jungkook shot up from his chair, eyes wide with recognition. "You're Dr. Facilier! The Shadow Man!"

"The one and only," Facilier replied with a mock bow, his grin widening. "And it looks like you've wandered into my domain."

Namjoon narrowed his eyes, stepping protectively in front of the others. "What do you want?"

"Oh, I don't want much," Facilier said with a wave of his hand. "Just a little fun, a little chaos. And maybe, just maybe, a few souls to add to my collection."

"Not gonna happen," Yoongi said, his tone cold as he moved to stand beside Namjoon. "We're not giving you anything."

Facilier chuckled darkly, tapping his cane on the floor. "Oh, I think you'll find that you don't have much of a choice. After all, I have friends on the other side."

As if on cue, the shadows in the room began to twist and writhe, forming into dark, menacing shapes that loomed over the group.

Taehyung swallowed hard, his earlier confidence faltering. "We need to get out of here."
