The morning sun streamed through the windows of Y/n's house, casting a warm glow over the living room where the group had gathered. The air was filled with a mix of tension and excitement as they continued to grapple with the strange reality that had been thrust upon them. Just a day ago, they had been characters in a movie, living out their lives in a world of fantasy. Now, they were in the real world, each struggling to adapt to the new powers they had unexpectedly gained.
Taehyung stood in the center of the room, his brow furrowed in concentration. "Okay, I can do this," he muttered to himself, extending his hand toward a nearby lamp. He had been trying for hours to summon the light that had saved them from Dr. Facilier, but so far, every attempt had ended in failure.
"Come on, Taehyung, you've got this," Jungkook encouraged from the couch, watching with a mixture of hope and amusement. Despite the surreal situation, he seemed to be enjoying the spectacle of his friends discovering their powers.
Taehyung clenched his jaw, focusing harder as he envisioned the light. But instead of the warm, golden glow he was aiming for, a weak spark fizzled out of his palm, barely enough to illuminate his hand.
"Ugh!" Taehyung groaned in frustration, dropping his hand and rubbing his temples. "Why can't I get it right?"
Namjoon, who had somehow inherited the abilities of Tarzan, swung down from the ceiling where he had been hanging from the light fixture, landing gracefully next to Taehyung. "It's okay, Tae. We're all still figuring this out."
"Speak for yourself," Yoongi muttered from the corner, where he was fidgeting with a toy laser gun he'd found. As Buzz Lightyear, he had taken to the new role with surprising ease, already practicing his aim on random objects in the room. "Some of us are naturals."
"Yeah, well, not everyone is a space ranger," Taehyung shot back, though there was no real malice in his voice. He knew Yoongi was just trying to lighten the mood.
Jin, who had lost his Genie powers upon entering the real world, was pacing back and forth, his expression a mix of concern and determination. "The fact that some of us gained powers while others lost them doesn't make sense. There has to be a reason."
Hoseok, who had also been stripped of his abilities as Maui, nodded in agreement. "Maybe it's because the real world doesn't work the same way as the movies. The rules are different here."
"That's one theory," Namjoon said thoughtfully, crossing his arms. "But it doesn't explain why Taehyung, Yoongi, and I got powers while you guys didn't."
"Maybe it's because we were just regular princes or characters in our worlds," Jimin mused. "We didn't have any supernatural abilities before, so the real world compensated by giving us some."
Jungkook, still lounging on the couch, raised an eyebrow. "So you're saying the universe is trying to balance things out? Giving you powers because you didn't have any before?"
"Or maybe it's just messing with us for fun," Yoongi suggested with a smirk, though his eyes held a serious glint.
Y/n, who had been sitting quietly at the dining table, finally spoke up. "Whatever the reason, we need to figure out how to use these powers to get you all back home. The longer you stay here, the more danger we're in. Especially with those villains running around."
Taehyung sighed, slumping onto the couch next to Jungkook. "I know. I've been trying, but... I don't even know where to start. Every time I try to summon the light, it just... fizzles out."
Y/n gave him a sympathetic look. "Maybe you're putting too much pressure on yourself. It's not just about the power—it's about what you're trying to protect. The light came to you when you needed it most, to save us. Maybe you need to find that same motivation again."
