Next morning......
The morning sun painted the city in hues of gold and pink as Y/N stepped into the familiar confines of the office. She adjusted her blazer, a routine that usually calmed her pre-work jitters, but today, an inexplicable unease settled in her stomach.
Her gaze landed on Jungkook's office door, a familiar sight that always brought a sense of normalcy. But today, something was off. Hesitantly, she knocked. The door creaked open, revealing Jungkook seated at his desk, his eyes fixed on the computer screen. A forced smile crept onto her lips. "Good morning, Mr. Jeon," she greeted, her voice barely a whisper.
Jungkook's head snapped up, his eyes meeting hers for a brief, intense moment before he looked away, his jaw clenching. There was a coldness in his demeanor, a stark contrast to his usual self, that sent a shiver down her spine.
Ignoring her completely, he turned back to his computer, the silent treatment a heavy weight in the air. A wave of confusion washed over Y/N. Had she done something wrong? Or was it something else entirely? She couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss, and it was directly linked to the enigmatic man sitting across from her.
Y/N stood there for a moment, her heart pounding in her chest. Then, with a deep breath, she turned and walked away, the sting of rejection already beginning to set in. What's wrong with him? she wondered, her mind racing. Did I do something to upset him?
Y/N hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to proceed. Her professional demeanor, however, urged her to push through the awkwardness. Taking a deep breath, she cleared her throat and began, "Mr. Jeon, I have the schedule for your meetings today ready. There's a conference call with the Seoul branch at 10 AM, followed by a lunch meeting with the Kims at 1 PM..."
Jungkook’s eyes flickered up from his computer, his gaze briefly meeting hers before returning to the screen. His response was curt, "Got it."
The terse reply was like a cold shower, dousing Y/N's enthusiasm. She pressed on, "And the new marketing proposal is ready for your review. I've scheduled a meeting with the marketing team for 3 PM to discuss it further."
Jungkook nodded, his attention still fixed on the computer. "Put it on my desk." The conversation was painfully one-sided, and Y/N felt a lump forming in her throat. She couldn't ignore the icy atmosphere that had enveloped their interaction. Something was clearly wrong, and she was determined to figure it out.
