POV: Jungkook
I sat in my office, the dim light casting long shadows across the room. My mind raced back to the incident a week ago.
Rose had lashed out at Y/N, her words laced with venom. In that moment, something within me snapped. I'd defended Y/N, my voice firm and unwavering.
Why had I done that? Was it simply because I felt a sense of duty towards her as my employee? Or was there something deeper at play? Had I...fallen for her? The thought sent a shiver down my spine. I'd never considered such a possibility before.
I closed my eyes, trying to recall the emotions I'd felt that day. There was a mix of anger, protectiveness, and...something else. A warmth that I couldn't quite explain. Was it love? Or was I simply overthinking this?
I stood up and paced across the room. I needed to clear my head. Maybe a walk would help. As I stepped outside, the cool evening breeze washed over me. I looked up at the starry sky, feeling a sense of peace. Perhaps the answer to my question would come in time.
Just as I was lost in my thoughts, the door to my office swung open. Taehyung, my best friend, burst in with a wide grin. "Hey, man, guess what?
"What is it, Tae?" I asked, turning to face him.
"The next company retreat is going to be in Jeju Island!" he exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Imagine, sun, sand, and relaxation."
I couldn't help but smile. Jeju Island was a beautiful place, known for its stunning scenery and tranquil atmosphere. "That sounds amazing," I replied. "When is it?" "Next month," Taehyung said. "We're leaving on the first weekend."
As we discussed the upcoming trip, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was avoiding something. My thoughts kept returning to Y/N and my feelings for her. Perhaps a change of scenery would help me sort things out.
Taehyung: So, who are you going to take as your plus one? You know, the best employee and all that?
Jungkook: (Hesitates) Um... I haven't really thought about it yet.
Taehyung: Come on, Jungkook. You're the CEO. You can choose whoever you want.
Jungkook: (His heart skips a beat) Well, if I had to choose... I guess... (He trails off, his mind racing.)
Taehyung: (Expectantly) Guess what?
Jungkook: (Finally blurts out) Y/N.
Taehyung: (Surprised) Y/N? That's a bold choice. I thought you might pick someone from your personal team.
