16| Don't!

If Kiana could turn back time, she would have never sent him away, she was calm yes, she knew that about herself however, calmness paired with impulsiveness and you have the worst human being ever.

There was no going back however, the damage had been done already, she had sent him away. There was no point crying over spoilt milk, except he wasn't milk, he was a whole soul trapped in the body of nonchalant glory of handsomeness.

Which was why she couldn't forget him, even after a whole month of no encounter with him, she still thought of him every single moment she could, the little to no time they had spent together, the smoothness of his voice when he sang to her, the air of arrogance and nonchalance he carried around, how calm, nice, loving and caring he was even after she had held a knife to his throat.

" Kiki! are you even listening to me, " Ana's voice brought her beck to reality, with a gentle and calm expression, she nodded.

"I heard the king wants to choose a wife for the prince, his twin brother, I really wish I could go watch or even participate in the contest, " gulping down her juice with a pout, she added. " its a pity its only the daughter of wealthy that stands a chance for things like that, "

Kiana jerked her head back, sighing as she grinded the herb in her hand further, they  had all stayed back at Wolface, Kiki had insisted she wanted them around as she was with child and needed her mothers care. Kiki's husband, Malater had been no less accommodating.

Worse.

The love she saw in his eyes every time he looked at his wife was something that stung her gut, she had ruined the chance of such for herself.

"It is none of our business Ana, the prince can marry whoever he wants unless you are in love and want to be married to him like those weird novels of your's, "

Ana snickered, " My novels are better companions that you, "

Kiana flipped her red hair out of her face as she poured the mixture into a potion bottle, Kiki had taught her a lot in healing, it fascinated her and to her surprise, she was a quick learner.

Groaning, kiana cut off the misplaced hair as it got in the way of everything she did, Ana gasped, " why'd you do that? " she exclaimed, putting down the cup of juice in her hand.

" it is getting in my way, I had to cut it off, " she shrugged and returned back to grinding  the rest of the herb, they had to deliver several batch of those to the palace for the women appointed for the prince.

She had been like that since a month ago, cutting away the hair that got in her way, Kiana's way of venting. " Pack those in the crate, I will go get Kiki, " Kiana commanded, putting down the last bottle of the potion.

Ana pouted. "You are no fun, but at least we get to enter the palace, I can't wait, " she shriek making kiana chuckle.

Kiana made her way which Kiki's room, however she met Malater on the way, " Kiana, " Malater smiled which Kiana returned with a curt nod.

" Princess can not come with you today, she had a bad night, " he informed, Princess was the nickname he gave his wife, this seemed weird to Kiana not that she was complaining.

Kiana nodded, " I hope she is well? I will check on her when we return from the palace, "

Malater held out his hand to her which Kiana took with delight, " Calm down red, you will meet him soon, he resides in the palace, a word from you and I will send you to him, "

Kiana shook her head,, " thank you Mam but perhaps it is better I stay away from him like I told him to, "

Malater nodded, still smiling as usual. Kiana had never seen him without a smile, he was a easy going person and that was why they clicked the moment they met.

He gave her hand a last comforting squeeze before saying, " you have never been to the palace on your own, let Anthony go with you, he is familiar with the guards and the palace, "

" thank you Mal, return to your wife, tell her not to worry, I will take care of the rest myself. "

"I know you will, " one last pat of her hand, one last checking of the potions and they were in the carriage, being taken to the palace infirmary to deliver the potions.

An hour and they were all set, ready to return, Kiana's eyes caught a particular route on thier way back, it wasn't her first time seeing the route and she had longed and wished to pass through it.

"Wait, " she told Anthony who paused and glanced back at her, Kiana got off the carriage and turned to him and Ana, I have somewhere to be, I will join you at the mansion when I am done, "

"Yes Missus, " Anthony replied.

"I want to come with you but I am exhausted so go on but don't forget to be safe and take care, see you back at the mansion, " Ana assented, her eyes half closed to which Kiana chuckled, except food, the only other thing Ana loved the most was her beauty sleep.

" take care of her, " she stated, a curt nod from him and a last glance at Ana, then he was gone.

Kiana began to walk towards the lone part, people walked around everywhere in the palace, slaves, maids, enuchs and different officials, this part however was lonely and abandoned, far ahead it, she could see a peony tree blooming.

As she walked the lone part, she looked around searching for what she couldn't exactly pinpoint, when Kiana finally arrived at the peony tree, a smile made its way to her lips and assessed the beauty before her, she reached out to touch the tree only to stop at a loud startling voice.

" Don't, " the voice sent shivers down her spine and she turned back only to widen her eyes at who she saw.

" Astor! "

The man before her frowned, " Who might you be? " as much as she had anticipated their next meeting and even thought of his reaction, she had never expected this.

He didn't remember her?
