12: Choiceless.

       
      It took everything in him to return her home. it was what she wanted after all, to be away from him, as far as she could get.

He had given her what she wanted, though it hurt him to do so yet the feeling of making her happy even at the cost of his own happiness. That was what the bond did to them, it gave them no choice at life, there was no going back once they met or bonded.

They had no choice to chose a different partner, Astor only just realized why he envied full blood humans, humans were not given such curse, or perhaps it was a privileged, they had the freedom to make choices, even though they make stupid choices.

He was never given the chance, not since he was born and forced to fight his way out of his mother's womb, not when he was forced to fight his brother for the throne when he cared less for it, not when he was forced to take his own blood brother as his enemy, not when he was given a chosen soulmate who hated him.

Astor took his eyes away from Kiana's disappearing frame. He closed his eyes and closed off the thoughts, just like his mother had once said, "what you can't think of doesn't hurt, just close your eyes and let the thoughts burn."

Then he was gone, all thoughts cleared, he was back to himself.

Kiana glanced back, expecting to see him once more before he left, yet to her disappointment he was gone, like he had been blown by the wind. She turned back and made her way into the tavern.

It was good he left, it was best for the both of them. What she couldn't place her hand on was why the thought of him never returning again hurt her heart so much.

"Kiana! " Adeline exclaimed, assessing Kiana like she had done the first day she walked in the tavern, Kiana did the same, her breathing slowed as she noticed how frantic and disturbed the poor woman was.

To her left, stood Frank, looking at her like he had seen  ghost, Kiren had told him of her kidnapping by the Moth slave, he had thought he would never see her again, Frank couldn't tell his wife of the news however, seeing her safe and sound, he had never been so greatful his whole life.

" Mama. " Kiana smiled.

"It's really you, " Adeline hugged her, sobbing. " I thought you left, I thought you found your family and left without a goodbye, "

Kiana shook her head, " i didn't Mama, I would never do so, you and Papa would always be my family no matter what happens, "

Frank joined in the hug, " thank you for coming back little butter, "

Once they sperated from the hug, Frank made the mistake of asking Kiana how she was able to return to she heated up.

" Astor saved me, "

" Astor? "

" The man who came to the tavern days ago, the one I shouted at, "

" Saved you from what? " confused Adeline asked.

" Moth Slaves, " And Frank made the mistake of telling her before Kiana could close off the chapter.

" M-moth slaves? " Adeline breathing became uneven, her eyes closed and before they knew it, she was going down, Kiana grabbed her before she could fall to the floor.

The next few minutes were blurry as Kiana carried her to an healer, It took a few hours to calm Adeline down after she awake.

" Who is this man that saved you? I need to thank him for saving my daughter, " Adeline asked as she laid on her bed.

" he left Mama, "

" why would you let him leave like that? He saved you, even after what you did to him that day, he still fought danger for you, " She exclaimed.

Kiana sighed, having no idea how to explain what happened in the housed cave to her.

Sighing, Adeline held out her hand to Kiana who took it almost immediately, " I am glad you are okay, "

Once Adeline fell asleep, Kiana returned to her room, took her bath and changed into a different clothe, she then washed up Astor's cloth and folded it aside.

"Kiki!!!" A voice she knew all too well boomed, including the loud thud of foot on the carpeted ground before Ana bursted into her room, her hair hanging on all sides of her hair.

Kiana smiled, as her friend stood by the door, eyeing her like she would her enemy  yet the tears on her face betrayed the hard look she gave her friend.

" Anan, " Kiana called.

Ana shook her head, before Kiana could say anything she felt a huge weight on her.

" I am glad you are safe, " Ana wept.

Smiling, Kiana patted her friends head, " I am glad i am too, "

Another hour of Kiana explaining how she had been saved by Astor, leaving out the bonded part and Ana was back to herself again.

"I told you he was the most handsome thing I have ever met and look, he saved you, "

"Says the one who had called him ugly days ago, "

Astor turned out to be the handsome guy Ana had met, yet she had declared him 'un handsome' the moment Kiana told her of what he had done months ago.

"No, that was when I thought he was a bad person, now he is a good person who faced danger to protect you, every one in the five kingdom knows that after the Ejoni's, Moth Slaves are the most dangerous and vile creatures. "

" oh, " Kiana nodded, had she been too harsh when she told him she never wanted to see him again? He had saved her life after all.

"I am glad you are safe now, when I meet him again, I will give him a huge chunk of meat as a thank you gift, "

"Typical, that's the best gift you can gift a person, " Kiana chuckled.

" What? Food is life after all, " Ana retorted.

" No, food is a necessity" Kiana countered.

" i won't argue with you on that, only people like me who understand the true meaning of food can understand, " flipping back her hair, she added, " unfortunately, you are not one of us, "

" yeah I am not, unfortunately, I happen to be the one to brush your messed up hair, come here, " Kiana shouted.

" no, " Ana retorted, running out of the room to save her poor hair's life.
