9: The Bonding.
Astor groaned as he pressed on his abdomen, the Deathfogs had somehow managed to hurt him, he had not noticed it till they got to safety.
He took of his hood and his white cloth, leaving only his pants on, his wounds would heal up themselves, it was one of the privileges he had as a dragon.
Ignoring his pain, he turned to Kiana, he would have been convinced she was dead if not for the wrinkle of her eyes brow and the sweat beading her forehead.
He traced her cheek with his thumb, there was still a chance to save her but it required something intimate, something he couldn't do for a stranger.
But was she a stranger? He had only met her four times yet he felt like he had known her a lifetime.
" Who are you exactly?" He asked.
" Why does it hurt here?" he touched his heart, " seeing you like this?"
Astor studied her face, hoping she could somehow provide an answer yet her eyes remained closed.
Sighing, Astor picked her up bridal style, he grabbed the purple dagger he had taken from a Wolfrine, then he took her to the water, the water was warm and soothing, he placed Kiana on it and took off her clothing, she would hate him for what he was about to do no doubt yet he couldn't bare it, Astor couldn't watch her life fade away without doing nothing when he very well could save her.
Astor was a thousand old dragon human, he could have tried saving her with his scale, however that couldn't save her as she was at the brink of death, saving he would require him to do something more powerful.
Perhaps he would regret this in the future, Astor had taken off her cloth, ready to begin the bonding when he spotted the red markings on her, he gasped in shock, seeing the intricate carving from her collerbone down her chest.
She was, she was his missing part, his mate, his destined bonded, Astor had never thought such a day would come, no wonder why he felt so attached to her, he traced the markings with his fingers, they felt... They felt too surreal.
She was his, she was the one to secure his soul, the one his soul could thrive with, his soulmate.
Astor would have never imagined such a thing, beaming, he hugged her to himself, inhaling her scent like a dog would his master.
When his eyes opened, he laid her on the water, letting her float on it, then he took the dagger in his hand and cut his own wrist, his blood dripped into the water, he took her wrist as cut it, then he covered her wrist with his.
His blood was drawn to hers like a fish to the sea and a bird to the sky, his blood dripped from hers and flew into her bloodstream, mixing with hers.
Kiana let out a pianed cry as his blood mixed with hers, the procedure was a long painful one for both Astor and Kiana, they were both weak.
Kiana had lost lots of her blood, her body fed on Astor till he was almost drained of his blood, he hugged her to himself till he had enough strength to return her to the bed.
He laid her down and laid beside her, hugging her to himself, " I hope you don't hate me for this," he whispered, drifting to sleep.
Kiana groaned in pain, her whole body ached yet it wasn't from extreme pain, she was only exhausted.
She peered at her surrounding, " Where is this," she asked, in an inaudible voice. The last thing she remembered was seeing her own death.
How did she end up at a room?
The place was beautiful no doubt, the ceiling looked like rocked and she was laid on a soft white bed, with a quilt covering her and-
Kiana gasped, where was she? She plopped herself up the bed slow than she wanted due to her weak body.
Did an healer heal her? What would happen now? She had definitely been instructed not to go to a healer, she lifted her hand to remove the quilt only to see a red-gold shinning mark around her wrist.
" What is this," Kiana Marveled.
She looked behind her only to gasp in shock once again, sleeping behind her, half naked was Astor, how did he get there?
She took off the quilt only to realize she was stark naked. " What the?" She yelled, covering herself back.
What happened? She was meant to be dead, what was she doing there? Naked on Astor's bed?
" D-did we-" Kiana couldn't bare to say it, tears clouded her vision, she jad thought Astor was a good man yet he took advantage of her naivety.
Her eyes found the dagger on the ground, she stood up the bed and took it, then she straddle him then with hatred burning in her eyes, she held up the dagger, ready to end him.
Astor stirred, he was refreshed after sleeping though he still needed some rest as he was too weak from the blood drained from his body.
When he opened his eyes, he was met with Kiana's frantic state, on top of that, she held up a dagger, to his heart.
He said nothing, seeing the hatred burning in her eyes for him, relaxing, he smiled and closed his eyes, dying at the hand of his bonded was better than dying at any other hand.
Seeing this, Kiana didn't hesitate before driving the dagger down with a pained cry.
The pain Astor expected never came, he waited, anticipated, only opening his eyes when tears dripped down his chest.
" Why?" Asked Kiana, unable to do it, she couldn't kill him for a reason she couldn't place her hand on.
Astor sat up, holding Kiana to himself, " I had no choice," he replied, " it was the only way to save you,"
" By taking advantage of me?" Kiana questioned.
Shaking his head, Astor cupped her cheek, " I didn't touch you little one, I... I bonded us,"
Kiana leaned away from his touch, " bonded?"
" You are my soulmate Kiana, this," He traced the now gold red markings on her collerbone, " This is proof,"
Kiana glanced down at the marking, " how?"
