Y/n's pov

You wrap your arms around Xaden's neck as he pushes your back against the wall of your room, the warded safety of the space letting your brain freely go numb. His lips feel hot against yours, his hands on your waist equally as intense as the kiss, the exact thing you didn't have for weeks. Your mind races in excitement for having Xaden all for yourself for the first time since the first few weeks at Basgiath, and you know that he feels the same way feeling how his hands are everywhere on you.

'Tell me why I didn't do this more often.' You hear Xaden say in between breaths, his face buried in your neck as you arch into his grip. He sighs against your skin, his warm lips holding the spots and moving downwards. You shudder as his fingers undo the black dress with the familiar ease, the fabric already pooling by your ankles on the floor. His lips attach back onto you as both of you and Xaden's hands undo the buttons on his shirt and his trousers.

'Because we're trying not to die.' You reply, although you aren't sure whether the sentence was even in full as Xaden's mouth trails kisses down your stomach.

'Gods, you taste as amazing as I remember.' Your breath hitches as his tongue rolls over between your legs, sending satisfied chills down your arms. Your hands push into his hair, the soft dark strands becoming tousled under your strokes. Xaden's fingers brush the sensitive skin, the air leaving your lips as your legs tremble. Xaden somehow takes pleasure in teasing you, his movements becoming faster and rougher.

'Xaden.' You call, not even embarrassed at how desperate you sound.

'So impatient.' He replies as he stands back up, the intense onyx eyes scanning you down in desire.

'Of course I'm impatient after you deprived me of this for weeks.' You reply as Xaden's hands support the back of your legs with the same familiarity, holding you up. You inch towards him as he places you on the desk, standing between your knees.

'I never forgot how much I love fucking you.' You shiver at the sound of his voice, feeling him pressing into where you wanted him the most. His head rolls backwards as you feel his presence everywhere, his shadows filling the air. You drag him closer as he moves, pulling backwards before closing in again. You wished you could say something sassy back, but your brain goes blank as you feel Xaden with every inch of yourself.

Xaden's pov

I see stars as I grip Y/n's waist, her scent wrapping around my brain as it always does. I let my guard down for the first time in weeks, knowing that the wards in her room is strong enough. Not that I could hold my sanity when... Gods, her legs were gripping around my back. Shuddering against her neck, my hand moves against the soft skin up to her-

'Riorson, stop fucking your girlfriend and get yourself over here!'

Sgael?

'It's Jack Barlowe. Get over here or we could all die and you never get to do that again. Get to the Archives. Now.'

'Xaden?' I look down at Y/n staring up at me, both of us frozen in place before Y/n pulls herself back. 'Something wrong?' She asks, searching my face.

'Riorson! You know what happens if Sorrengail dies.' Sgael growls with more ferocity than I've heard in a long time, and I take a second to regain my composure before I hurriedly reach for the scattered clothes on the floor.

'Xaden, what are you-' I look back at Y/n watching me in confusion. I feel the twinge of guilt and frustration at the situation, making me unable to look at her in the eyes.

'I'm so sorry. It's something urgent. I'll be back.' I say quickly, not managing to say anything else as Sgael screams into the bond. I put my flight jacket around Y/n before bolting out the door. I sense Y/n calling after me, but I run in full speed towards the Archives. I would explain and apologise a hundred times more for leaving her behind like that, and hope the damage is not as bad as I think.

This was my life now.

Having to leave the one I love any time for Sorrengail just to keep myself and Sgael alive.

Having to force Y/n into understanding me more than she should have to.

'Not the priority here.' Sgael chimes in, seemingly unable to share my sentiment in frustration.

Y/n's pov

You bite your lips, staring at the ceiling as you wonder what could have made him run out like you were a plague.

Well you knew why.

Something must have gone wrong with Sorrengail. The only thing that could have made him run for his life like that, literally. You couldn't blame him for running for his life, but somehow the rational thoughts were separate from the tears you feel under your eyes. You wished you were the only person to make him run for like that. However hard your logical brain understood the facts, you couldn't help but resent Violet.

Only one move from her. Simply Tairn choosing her had caused this entire spiral in your brain past few months. Liam having to leave your side for Violet's. Then Imogen too. And now Xaden was no exception.

You couldn't help but feel completely, utterly alone.

You pick yourself up from your desk, pulling your dress back on unlike the times Xaden would dress you back up before going to sleep.

Fucking pathetic.

You think to yourself as the teardrops hit the carpet as you lower your arm to grab your shoes.

You couldn't even have him for one full day. Every time you thought he was yours, something or someone always came up to somehow ruin it. Like Catorina.

But now this time, you had nobody to fault for it which made it worse. Not to mention how terrible and selfish you felt for not understanding Xaden's situation and feeling like a needy girl he had to worry about over his own life.

Pulling Xaden's jacket closer around yourself, you leave your room silently, sniffing the tears back. Your mood turns for the worst as you hear the other cadets' laughters down the corridor, the Solstice party still raging on. You catch a glimpse of Imogen's pink hair as you get down the stairs, Garrick spotting you.

'I thought you were not going to be seen until the next morning!' Bodhi slurs, another wine glass in his hand as he notices you. 'Hey, are you okay?' He asks, his drunken mood melting away seeing your face up close.

'I'm fine. Drank too much.' You reply quickly, making your way faster towards wherever Hwad was.  You hear the three of them wonder where you are going, but you sprint to avoid them.

'You're right. You're the best companion.' You say silently, hoping you weren't waking Hwad up.

'Oh, Cherry. I was wondering what the hell was happening to you. You go from all loving and lusty to...depressed.'

'I know. Can I stay there? Just for tonight?'

'I'm always open for you, Cherry.'
