(Harriet's POV)

Harriet and Wyatt get to school right on time, soon parting ways.

Before Harriet can make her way down the hallway she feels her phone vibrate in her pocket.

She sees that she has a text message from Vivian.

Curiously, she opens it.

"We have to meet after school by the girl's bathroom. I have a plan." She wrote.

Harriet furrowed her brows. She wondered what this was about but shrugged it off and decided to consider it later.

As she headed into her classroom another student bumped into her and she dropped her books.

"Goodness, could you watch where you're-" She was saying, bending down to pick up her books, until her voice cut off when she saw the person who bumped into her.

He was a brown-skinned guy with long wavy brown hair and hazel eyes.

"I'm sorry. Are these yours?" he said in a smooth, deep voice, looking into her eyes.

She found it hard to find her words but when she did she just scoffed and snatched her books from him.

"Wait!" He said, dashing in front of her and stopping her in her tracks.

"I know you...you're Harriet Mitchell right?" He inquired, pointing at her.

"Who wants to know?" She crossed her arms.

"Adrian...Adrian Rojas...nice to meet you." He says, extending a hand.

"Ok...nice to meet you too..." Harriet says, hesitantly extending a hand. They shake and Adrain almost seems to hold her hand too long.

She pulls her hand back.

"Um, so no offense, but do you need something because we're about to go to class." She said, getting impatient.

"Oh well I just wanted to say that I hear you're pretty smart-" He said.

"Oh ah, correction I'm the smartest student in this class." She pointed out with her figure and a proud smile on her face.

"Right. So I wanted to let you know that I was also the smartest student in my old class and I intend on holding up that title." He explained, with a smirk on his face.

"Oh really? Well, good luck with that." She said with a laugh, sizing him up, and rolled her eyes.

Adrian stepped into the room after her, hands behind his back.

Harriet took a seat in her usual spot in the front row of her Chemistry Class.

Alejandro stood next to the teacher, hands still behind his back.

"Class before we get started I wanted to introduce a new student who was transferred from Mr.Nyugen's class. His name is Adrian Rojas." Mrs.Castillo announced to the whole class.

Harriet could hear some girls swooning over him and she rolled her eyes.

"This is perfect timing too because our class was oddly numbered and starting this week I'm going to be putting you in pairs for a project." Mrs. Castillo continued.

Harriet's eyes widened.

She looked over at the chair next to her and saw that it was empty. She always did projects alone.

"Since that seat is the only one that's free-"

"Oh no," Harriet thought.

"Adrian, why don't you be Harriet's partner?" The teacher said and Adrian smirked, looking over at Harriet.
