Dear Journal,

I've been spending a lot of time in the library as of recently. Half the time I have spent it with Bo or Samson or Louisa, or all of them, but the other half I'm just alone. Regulus spends a lot of time in the library too.

Today I was practicing translating some old runes discovered years ago for my Ancient Runes class when Silas Fawley came into the library and sat next to me. He didn't even say anything, he just sat there. He's a Slytherin and he's a year older than me. I don't know much about him, but he has the arrogance I'm expected to have as a Gryffindor.

He's blonde but his hair is neat and in a perfect comb-over style and his eyes are dark green, almost black, and I haven't ever seen an eye color like that.

I was very confused as to why he sat next to me so I looked at him and said, "Hello?"

All he did was smile, nod his head, and say "Hello" back to me. I tried to ignore him and keep working on my homework but he was staring at me with an annoyingly charming smile.

I finally looked up again and said, "What?"

And then he just leaned back a bit, put his arm over the back of the bench, and said, "Nothing... I'm just curious as to who you are."

That was when I looked down and realized that maturity really decided to hit hard over the summer.

"Um... my name is Estella Flint. I'm in Gryffindor and I'm a fifth year," I finally said to him.

His smile widened and he repeated my name as he looked me up and down. He was saying my name as if he was trying the name out on his lips.

"Mhm..." I said slowly, "Why did you sit next to me?"

That's when he shrugged his shoulders and leaned forward, resting his arms on the table between us, and said, "Can't a boy sit next to a pretty girl?"

I really never thought that I was the type of person to blush easily but I was certain that I was blushing as I had said, "Oh... I guess..." because I didn't know what else to say. When I glanced across the library I could see that Regulus was staring at me. At Silas. At us.

I tried to focus on my homework after that but I couldn't. Silas and I talked for hours after that. Regulus left sometime while we were talking. By the time I finally left the library, the sky outside was dark.
