Dear Journal,

I was in the library with Margot, Elias, Bo, Samson, and Louisa again. We were all studying for our n.e.w.t.'s. When I saw Regulus sitting alone at a table again, I grabbed my book bag, waved goodbye to my friends, and went to sit next to him. I took out my textbook without saying anything and began to study next to him.

He looked up at me in quiet surprise. I continued to study and read, silence drifting between us. I could sense that he was stealing glances at me every couple of minutes. Finally, I looked up and said, "Do you know anything about poison antidotes? I'm studying for the potions final and I can't figure out what I'm missing in the list of ingredients I've memorized."

He looked up from his textbook as I spoke to him. He raised his eyebrows then cleared his throat, "I know a fair bit about antidotes. I can help if you'd like."

"Okay, I've got the bezoar and the mistletoe berries, but I don't know what else," I tapped my quill against my textbook.

He sat up a little straighter and said, "You're missing wolfsbane or aconite. It's also known as monkshood."

"Oh. Okay. Thank you," I quickly scribbled it down on a piece of paper then went back to studying silently.

I could feel his eyes on me as I studied. It was silent again for a moment before he spoke, "Why aren't you studying with your friends?"

I looked up at him, "Oh..." I looked over at Margot and the rest of my friends, "I just... wanted to study with you instead," I shrugged and looked back down at my parchment.

"You wanted to study with me? Why?" he asked.

I shrugged again, "I don't know. Just felt like it."

He let out a scoff and said, "You're being weird. I'm the last person you would want to be at the library with."

"Well, I could say the same thing to you," I set my quill down and looked at him. He knew I was referring to our distant friendship. We hadn't been friends since I had been sorted into Gryffindor, "But here we are."

He was quiet for a moment before he responded, "Why are you really here? I'm sure you'd rather be with your friends."

"Regulus. I just want to study with you, okay?" I looked back down and tried to continue reading.

He looked down too, "Fine. We can just study in silence then."

I nodded.
