Dear Journal,
We stood at the entrance of the cave, the wind whipping us and the ocean smacking against rock. We hadn't completely thought out the plan but we had planned that we were both going to go in with Kreacher.
"Let's go," I said, taking a step forward.
I felt fingers close around my wrist and pull me back, preventing me from walking forward. I looked back at Regulus and there was a sadness on his face.
"No," he said as he looked into my eyes, "I'm sorry."
"What?" I asked.
"You're not going to step foot in that cave," he said, "I won't allow it."
"Regulus, we planned this together," I said, trying to pull my wrist out of his grip.
"Ella, no," he said.
"Regulus! We're supposed to do this together!" I yanked my arm but it was no use.
He stepped closer to me, "I don't care! I'm not putting your life in danger! You're not going in! I can do this by myself."
"But then your life will be in danger!"
"My life will be in danger regardless, even if you're in the cave with me," he said, "I would much rather go in there alone than run the risk of bringing you into that hell!"
Tears brimmed my eyes, "Regulus... please..."
Pleading was the only thing I could do. But I knew he had already made up his mind. He clenched his jaw. He didn't want to risk my life. He turned to Kreacher.
"Kreacher, when we go in, if something happens to me, I want you to apparate to Estella when she calls you if you're not able to get out. Understand?"
"Regulus, please," I begged him as tears streamed down my cheeks, but it was useless.
"I can't..." he said.
"Reggie..." I breathed out desperately. I grabbed hold of his cloak and pulled him into a rushed but passionate kiss, wrapping my arms around his neck. He kissed me back, grabbing my waist and pulling me closer.
When I pulled back, pain was etched across both of our faces as I whispered, "I love you... Please come back safely."
"I love you, Ella..."
