POND'EARS
———

"Okay, Finch, how are you feeling today?" I asked as we stood in the middle of the field. He grumbled something I couldn't hear in response. Yeah, I'd be irritated too if I still had to train after winning a duel.

"Robin! How are you feeling?" I smiled at the smaller feline.

"I want to learn how to hunt like Finch! He brought the biggest rabbits!" Robin jumped around in circles.

"Oh really?" I sneered. I'm glad he put his brother first, but, great Starclan, does he even care about himself?

"So what are we doing today?! It's the first official day of training! I want to fight!" Robin exclaimed.

"Robin, how do you have so much energy? The sun isn't even up yet," Finch mumbled.

Yes, I had them out at the earliest time. What about it?

Finch has three quarters of a moon before his next duel, and Robin has six full moons. Finch is horribly injured while Robin is completely fine.

"We'll start off with something simple, yeah? How about we do some basic combat training." I stretched and yawned, "wouldn't that be fun?"

"Whoo! Yes!" Robin pounced on Finch but quickly slid off his back. He laughed as he rolled over and began jumping around in circles.

"Alright, first we'll learn..um.." I trailed off. I've never had an apprentice, and it shows. "How to effectively dodge an attack and analyze how to do so!"

"That sounds boring," Robin commented while sitting.

"What did Puddle'Snout teach you?" I cocked my head to the side, taunting him.

"All she did was take me around the territory five million times and made me collect flowers and leaves for Twig'Snapper!" He complained.

"Exactly, nothing fun. I promise you, I'll make sure you have the best training sesh ever." I smiled while glancing at Finch. His ears were perked as he stared at me. His green eyes pierced through mine. I adverted my gaze.

That was weird.

"Alright, so observe."

Robin was the only one breathing heavily after the session. Finch seemed to had fallen asleep while I was teaching Robin the correct way to counter attack. He still needs to work on that.
