POND'EARS
———

"Great starclan, aren't his parents dead?" An apprentice whispered.

"Don't say that," Twig'Snapper hissed.

"Poor kit, he's not even that old."

I stared at my paws.

"It's okay, we'll find them together! I bet they went to catch you a super big bird!" Rotten'Paw sat down beside me and nudged my shoulder with his.

"Rotten'Paw, my parents are dead, stop trying to—"

"Rotten'Paw why are you talking to this—this loser." His older sister, Ashen'Paw, snarled. She grabbed Rotten'Paw by his scruff and pulled him away from me. I sniffled.

"He's ultimately useless, you see? All he does is cry. It's been six moons, get over it!" Summer'Paw scoffed while kicking my side. I fell over, limply, and curled up. All I could do was cry. I heaved, trying to catch my breath, before the tears began to pour out my eyes.

"Why's he always crying?! Oh my starclan, grow up!" Moose'Paw hissed.

"Leave him alone!" Rotten'Paw yowled.

"Shut up Rotten! You're only saying that because you feel sorry for him, don't pity him. His parents died, so what? Everyone dies at some point!" Summer'Paw scoffed.

I sobbed into my own tail, digging my claws into the ground.

"Hey, hey, you three quit it." Twig'Snapper nudged me in the side with his paw. I lifted my head up, still sniffling.

"I just want to be loved again," I whimpered.

I shivered as I woke up in the prison den. I didn't feel..right..leaving Finch to sleep alone. Robin has upgraded to the apprentice den, and has actually been forbidden to see his brother unless it's in the clearing.

Splotched'Star is an asshole, that's for sure.

"Are you okay?" Finch asked from beside me. He wasn't close enough for us to be touching, but close enough for me to feel his presence. I nodded.

"Just a weird dream," I murmured. "Why can't you sleep?"

"Robin isn't here," he stated while shrugging, "and I don't know what to do anymore."

I'm torturing him.

I'm the reason for all his pain.
