FINCH
———I stared, blankly, at Pond'Ears sleeping. He's been sleeping in the prison den a lot recently. What if I've dragged him into all the hate I get? The sun was up, but he was curled so tightly into a ball. Slightly, his body trembled and his torso stuttered as his breath did.
I looked up at Dawned'Pool as she walked past the prison den. She looked to be in great shape..perhaps even better than before. Days are going by faster, and it's getting colder.
Maybe my body will decompose faster if it's frozen when I die.
I heard her thumping footsteps coming back. I gulped and hurriedly laid my head down, to act as if I was sleeping. I squeezed my eyes shut.
"He doesn't deserve to sleep happy like that," she commented.
"He'll sleep happy in Starclan, dear," a strained voice said. Once I heard this voices fade I opened my eyes again and glanced at Pond'Ears.
I'm only living for him, and nothing else. How could he say he cares about me? I don't even care for myself, why does he? Why can't he just let me die. I ran my tongue over my jaws and sighed.
"What's the bad mood for so early in the morning," he murmured.
"Nothing, sorry I woke you. I'm going to see Robin." I stood up and looked back at him.
"I'll be down in a second," he said before seemingly drifting back to sleep. I padded out the prison den, looking both ways, before going down to the clearing. I smiled when I saw Robin sitting alone for once. I quickly trotted to him and sat down.
"Hey there stranger, haven't seen you in a bit." I licked the top of his head.
"Hey, Finch," he mumbled. His tone seemed..off. It wasn't bubbly as usual. I looked at my paws.
"Is there something wrong?" I whispered.
"What happened to our parents?" He snapped. I flinched at the venom in his voice.
"What are you talking about? I told you—"
"Tell me the truth," he spat.
"I told you they died in a fire," I retorted, "watch your tone with me."
"You're not my dad, Finch. You're hardly a brother. You lied to me." He stood up, tail flicking. My ears pinned.
"What are you talking about?!" I seethed while standing also and looking down at him, barely.
"Splotched'Star told me—"
