KNIGHT MATT (YOU CAN'T CATCH ME NOW)

i've had this storyline in my mind for four years now. please enjoy it

She was a bratty, spoiled princess. Princess Y/n of Lunaris, ruled by the Moon. It was filled with dark empresses', witches and warlocks, and Y/n was no better. She was beautiful, so she got away with it. When she was young, her mother was kidnapped and believed to have been brutally killed. It was what sent Lunaris and Plumeria into a war. Plumeria was the kingdom of light, the exact opposite of Lunaris.

The ruler of Plumeria, King Holland was in love with Y/n's mother, Priscilla. Except Priscilla was fooled into falling in love with the King of Lunaris, Edward. Holland left a letter to Edward, he had in fact stolen Priscilla in the dead of night and she wasn't ever going to be relased again. It sent King Edward into a frenzy. Y/n was never allowed out of the castle again, much to her dismay. She took to creating hidden passageways, locking every door, and just being annoying to everyone as her way of coping. It's now been four years since Priscilla was captured, but to Y/n, it felt like it happened just yesterday.

I strolled through the castle. What once used to be so beautiful, now looked so blue and gloomy. The dark tapestries seemed darker, irregular. It sent a shiver down my spine every time I looked at them. Don't get me wrong, my family was never normal. I was an only child, a woman at that. My mother wasn't able to carry children after me. I was like a disease to my father. But he learned to like me I think, and he loved my mother honestly. So he stuck with us. Typically, we would have been killed. I, for being a woman, mother for not carrying children worthy of a man's title to his Kingdom once father died.

Today was also different. I was having a ball. Every year on All Hallows Eve, there was to be a ball for the young man who would be crowned king the year of their eighteenth birthday. It was left up to me now, since I wasn't exactly worthy of being King, I'd be Queen. My father would meet with any and all neighboring Kingdoms, except for Plumeria, and he'd find a husband for me to marry and he will become king. My father wasn't exactly ready to retire yet, he still had a few years left kicking in him, but he wanted to pay more attention to his knights. Speaking of nights, I have my own, and I was running from him currently.

I gripped onto my dress as I made a mad dash down the hallway. I could hear the heavy footsteps surround me, the quiet murmurs of maids and butlers he pushed past. I wasn't afraid of him, I honestly rather hated him. I knew I could take him in a fight if it came to it, I just wanted to be a bigger pain in the ass. I made a quick stride for the stairs, the echoes became quiet and I knew I lost him as my heels clicked against the concrete stairs. I puffed out a few breaths before calming my steps. I became tentative to where I stepped, wondering if he was behind me still.

My father was only backing down from his position as King so he could focus on the army. He wanted to go into war with Plumeria so very badly. Plumeria had no idea what we had coming to them. I let out a loud gasp as I passed the kitchen, an hand wrapping around my wrist tugging me into the kitchens. "Quiet princess." My stomach presses against the dimly lit walls, and a breath is whispered against my neck. "Christopher."

Christopher was my dads body guard, his favorite knight. However I had to be stuck with his asshole brother Matthew. They were just so different. Chris was charismatic, bold, intriguing, loving and loyal to my father. There's a reason why he was my father's right hand man, and best friend. And then Matthew... He was mysterious, secretive, quiet, alluring in all the worst ways. You'd be having a nice conversation with him for a moment, and then the next you'd be bickering back and forth. He was so bipolar. It was irritating.

"Hey princess." Chris whispered. "We're running away from Matt again?" he chuckled deeply. I felt my cheeks warm at his thick voice. Husky and deep, but also playful and gentle. "I uh I'm running from Matthew." I stuttered. Christopher 'tsked' twice "Naughty girl."
