Like a tumour, the darkness spread.

The army of shadow ran across the land of white and stole its light. It was like watching a continuous stream of ink spread across an endless sheet of paper and no one could close the valve or contain the stain. The fighters who were there when the army arrived were forced to immediately retreat unless they wanted to be killed.

"What the hell are these things?" Miles exclaimed, flipping back and webbing a handful of creatures to the ground. However, he was immediately attacked by twice as many and surrounded by a hundred times more.

"Lost souls that were corrupted by Nightmare," Delta explained, summoning a Gaster Blaster which he fired at an entire swarm before turning around and punching a Shadow that looked like a rabbit Monster. "They're not mind-controlled or anything. They're just empty husks that Nightmare uses as his army. Undead souls with no true body."

"Wait... so you're saying that they aren't alive?" UK questioned as he spun what looked like a human wrapped in webbing and threw him at a collection of shadow creatures.

Delta blinked, slightly confused by the question.

"Yeah? That's kinda what undead means. There's no way to free them the corruption besides depleting their HP."

Miles and Billy grinned beneath their masks. The familiar orange lightning reappeared but it didn't stop at Miles' arms. It spread past his shoulders, poured out of his emblem and highlighted the lenses that covered his mask.

"Awesome."

Dozens of Shadows pounced onto the Ultimate Spider-Man, oblivious to the danger he suddenly posed. In just a split second, they were all engulfed in a sphere of unrivalled electricity. The moment that they made contact, they burst into ash which soon completely vanished.

Unhindered by this release of power, Miles rushed towards the nearest surviving Shadow, orange lightning still coating his arm. He grabbed what looked like a Papyrus by its head and slammed it into the white ground. It immediately vaporised, and another, smaller shockwave was released, which caused more Shadows to drop to the floor.

"What was that?!" Delta exclaimed as he avoided multiple shadows. He could feel the Bravery Soul as well as his own glow with excitement from such a display of power. He watched from a distance as orange electricity moved between the shadows, killing up to a dozen of them with just one strike.

"We Spider-Men always hold back." Spider-Man UK explained with a shout. "One punch from us could kill most people, even if they have some level of enhanced durability. We only ever really let lose when we're fighting high-power villains or mindless drones like this."

As if to prove his point, UK punched a shadow of King Asgore himself. Not only did the Shadow burst on impact, but so did the three shadows closest to them. The rest were knocked back or at least stumbled a little.

"Heh. That's awesome!" Delta grinned as he summoned a village worth of bones and had them rain down on his enemies. "I'd love to spar with one of you guys. Most of my opponents rely on magic. It'd be cool to fight someone as physically powerful as you!"

"Let's save it for after we're done with these nobodies!" Miles yelled with a laugh.

Despite the efforts of the trio, hundreds of Shadows made it to the town. The residents screamed as they ran in the opposite direction of the Doors. Buildings trembled as Shadows, which were still capable of utilising their magic, ripped them apart.

The fighters that had been summoned by Core Frisk did what they could to minimise the damage. They erected walls of bones which, at least momentarily, closed off streets only to falter soon after.
