CHAPTER THREE
LORELEI ALEXIS SPEARS“Why didn’t you tell me?!” I asked Colby.
He shrugged. “I wasn’t exactly thrilled about it. I didn’t want to think about it. Besides, I didn’t want to make the start of your year even worse. I’ve already got us in more than enough trouble.” He took a long pause while I looked at him. “It’s only a year, I’ll be fine.”
“There is no way I'm just gonna let you spend the year in the same dorm as–as him.” I said while pointing towards the names on the door, that were right next to Colby’s.
LeStrange, Zabini and…..Nott.
I thought back to only a few minutes earlier when we found Theodore in the common room looking rather—angry. I finally connected the dots and presumed that having to share a dorm with Colby was what had put him in such a bitter mood. It would also explain why his friends were nowhere to be seen.
“It’s fine, Rory. I’ll be….fine.” He paused before he said the last word. I knew he really didn’t want to spend the year with Nott, or Zabini for that matter. I didn’t blame him. I knew Colby too well. He was only saying that to make me feel better, so I wouldn’t spend all of my time worrying about him.
“Colby–” I started
“No. It’s okay, Rory. I’ll stay away from him as much as possible.” He smirked a little before continuing. “And I promise I’ll try to keep myself from making him too pissed off.”
He was always trying to make situations like these seem not so bad. Even when he got dealt the shitty hand.
“Let’s just go inside, okay?” He said, taking my hand, and taking steps closer to the door. He turned the handle and pushed it open.
The room had three beds, and a night table at each. Three dressers were pushed against the wall, made from dark pine wood that had a fine layer of polish. The wood frames complimented the dark green color of the wall, which matched the Slytherin house perfectly. It was obvious that Theodore and Blaise had already made themselves at home here since all their stuff was already set up around the room.
The Slytherin dorms were a lot different from the Ravenclaw dorms I was accustomed to. Not to say the Slytherin dorms were bad, I just wasn’t used to them. Personally, I couldn’t stand being down in the dungeons of the castle. It’s cold, dark, and overall just gives a very uncomfortable feeling. I’d rather be up further, where real, natural light actually shines through windows that aren't created by magic.
There was one big closet on one side of the room. Across from it was the bathroom, which had a stand-up shower, and marble countertops. It was a very nice dorm. Too bad Colby had to share it with the worst people ever. I was afraid his experience here would be ruined because of it.
Colby and I both looked around the room. Even though we’ve seen these dorms one thousand times over, they still seemed to amaze us. But this time–it was different.
I don’t know how to explain how it was different. The layout was mostly the same, and the colors, and the furniture. Everything as far as the eye could see was the same. It was the feeling that was different. The mood was different.
While Colby walked into the bathroom to take a look around. I walked around the room, looking at the belongings and objects scattered across the room, in an orderly fashion. I was walking near one of the beds, looking at a picture on the wall, of what looked like Blaise and his mom, when I almost tripped and fell over a loose floorboard.
