CHAPTER FIFTEEN
LORELEI ALEXIS SPEARS

I was nervous going down to Cedrics room in the Hufflepuff dormitories. I had never been down there before so it was for sure going to be a new experience.

As soon as the party died down Luna led Lorenzo up to the Ravenclaw tower where they for sure would be staying up all night, doing who knows what. All I know is that when Luna was practically skipping out of the common room with excitement, she had a big smile on her face. She was happy. And even though I knew Lorenzo truly didn't love her, I was happy for her too.

It was obvious to me and probably anyone else who saw them together, that something was off. The way she looked at him was not the way he looked at her. But it was the way he looked at his best friend's girlfriend. I could tell he wasn't trying all that hard to get over the girl he wanted. He couldn't take his eyes off her whenever they were in the same room. But Luna was only there as a distraction to what he could not have.

Colby and I followed Cedric down to his common room where he proudly stated the password to the door. (Which was something I could not understand.) He waved us in with a smile on his charming face. Colby and I followed.

The common room was almost like a cozy burrow. Since it was night the room wasn't lit up as it usually would've been. Instead, the only light that kept the common room lit was from the few lanterns set on side tables, or hanging from various vines that crowded the earth like ceiling. It was hot down here as the fire was burning brightly and no one had bothered to put out the fire. Or at least cast a simple charm on it like they do in the Ravenclaw common room.

Hufflepuff's tended to be very naturey from what I've heard. Maybe they only let the fire burn bright and emit heat because it was natural. They're known for their love of plants, and according to the common room it showed. Plants were everywhere. Trees, flowers, bushes, vines, moss. Everything.

Although it was dark, I could still see the orangey-yellow contrast of the walls that surrounded the room.

I didn't get long to look at it, or take in the new scene because Cedric and Colby kept walking along. Soon enough we were entering the dormitories, walking along the long corridors of the Hufflepuff halls.

Soon we came to a stop and entered a dorm to the left of the hall.

“I apologize for the mess” Cedric stated apologetically as he held the door open for Colby and then myself. He smiled at me when I passed him. His eyes looked tired.

His room wasn't that messy. Sure, it had a few things scattered across the floor, like clothes. And maybe the desks were a bit cluttered and the beds weren't made. But it wasn't anything bad.

“Don't worry about it.” Colby responded, standing awkwardly in the middle of the room with his fists jammed in the pockets of his jacket.

“Yeah.” I agreed with Colby, “you've done more than enough by letting us stay here.” I smiled and stood next to Colby, discreetly elbowing him under the intent of getting him to stop being so awkward. He loosened up a little.

Cedric closed the door and entered the room with us. His hand went to the back of his head like he was about to say something. It was confirmed when he actually started speaking.

“So–uh. I'll sleep on the floor, if you two don't mind sharing a bed–?” he asked, unsure.

“Are you sure, man? It's your bed. I can sleep on the floor.” Colby suggested. I could hear the small amount of mischievousness in his voice. I knew what he was doing.
