CHAPTER ELEVEN
LORELEI ALEXIS SPEARS

Theodore left abruptly after our small conversation about the party that was taking place tonight. I could only assume in the Slytherin common room, because that's where most of the parties that took place were. There, or the Hufflepuffs were throwing one of their celebrations, which mostly just consisted of laced liquor, weed, and a lot of inappropriate dancing, from what I’ve heard. I’m still not sure if the rumors were true. Maybe I could ask Cedric. He’d know.

I quickly packed up my stuff, which was mostly just books I bring everywhere with me. It seemed to come in handy a lot of the time. Most people who didn’t carry their books around, were often found–unprepared.

Waving a quick goodbye to Filch I stepped out of the classroom. My intention now was to go find Colby, and maybe he would attend this ‘party’ with me. He would if I had asked him, even if he wasn’t really a big fan of them himself. Especially Slytherin parties.

The few times, Colby and I have gone to parties, I wouldn't say it went well. We used to go to them quite a bit, but not so much anymore. Let’s just say I couldn’t handle my drink very well, and things got out of control a lot of the time. Colby, the calm and collected one, would usually have to drag me away.

The one time I remember Colby actually getting intoxicated to the point of not being in his right mind was when we ended up sharing that kiss in my dorm. I’d never seen him drink since that night. Maybe that’s why he didn't? Although I knew as well as he did that that kiss was a mistake, I didn’t want him to feel bad for it.

I walked down the hall, down empty corridors and staircases. It was oddly quiet for a party going on, so I figured maybe it hadn’t started yet. I uttered the password into the common room, which I now had known by heart ever since Colby had taught it to me. It humiliated me to say it, but I had no other choice.

“Pure-blood.” I said quietly. I knew no one was around, but it felt so embarrassing to say the words of which I was not just to get into a room that housed all the people that thought something was wrong with my blood.

The door swung open, and immediately I was hit by the blast of loud music, blaring around the room. It had been so long since I had been to one of these parties. It took my eyes a few seconds to adjust to the green flashing lights in the room, and the smoke that was rising in the air. People were dancing, drinks in hand. Others were playing party games, or making out on the couches or in the corners of the rooms. I took a shaky breath to prepare myself, and I stepped in.

I knew I needed to find Colby first. So I pushed my way past the crowd of people dancing to the upbeat music that was so loud I swore I would go deaf if I stayed for longer than five minutes.

Someone grabbed my arm, and I turned around quickly. I wasn’t sure who it was, but I immediately calmed down when I saw a familiar face smiling at me.

“Luna!” I said, happy that it was her and not anyone else. “What are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same thing.” She smiled sweetly, “I figured Colby would be with you. I’m here with Lorenzo, he invited me.”

Suddenly the boy named Lorenzo came up behind Luna, handing her a drink in a red solo cup. “There you go, Love.” he muttered into her ear, and she giggled.
