CHAPTER NINETEEN
LORELEI ALEXIS SPEARS

Cedric and I walked into three broomsticks, which ultimately was the place he had decided to surprise me with. With his arm around my shoulder he led me to a seat near the middle, and pulled out a chair for me. I took it. He smiled and sat across from me. I took this time to look around.

The place was nice. Well decorated. Well, decorated like any other pub you would find. High wooden ceilings and rafters made from the finest unpolished wood, giving it an unfinished natural look. Windows that let in the sunlight, ran along the wall opposite from the bar, and tables were neatly scattered around the room filled with chattering customers who were either students, or intoxicated residents of the town. There was a balcony on the top floor that overlooked the very vintage chandelier, and the crowd of laughing people below. Overall it was a good environment, happy and jovial. It's changed a lot since I'd last been here, or maybe I've changed.

“So,” Cedric cleared his throat “What can I order for you?” He said, picking up one of the menu’s on the table and scanning his eyes across it.

“I was thinking I'll just have a butterbeer. It's been awhile.” I said in response. I wasn't very hungry, or maybe I was. Either way I was way too nervous to eat. My appetite was gone, and the only thing I could think about was Cedric.

He smiled at my small request. “If that's what you want.” He summoned the waiter over by giving him a small wave. I figured he came here often, it seemed like he felt very at home in this place. “One butterbeer for the lovely lady over here, and one for myself, please.”

I smiled shyly as the waiter walked away. I loved how Cedric was so polite. I loved how he addressed me in such a way that made my heart flutter and my cheeks turn pink. I loved the way he talked, his smile, his hair, everything.

“So,” He started, getting my attention immediately. I don't know if he knew just how easily he could get my attention. “Do you come here often?”

I shook my head, “not since third year. I've been around Hogsmeade. Just never really here.”

“How come? You don't like it here. Did I choose the wrong spot?”

“No. It's perfect. Thank you for taking me.”

“No problem. I was worried for a second that you didn't like it here. I was about to get really mad at myself” He let out a slight chuckle.

I smiled, shaking my head at his mannerisms. I liked how he laughed at himself. I thought it was a very attractive quality to have. But it wasn’t that hard to have attractive qualities if you were Cedric Diggory.

We sat in silence for a little bit as we waited for our drinks. I think I was too awkward and nervous to say anything. On the other hand, I thought Cedric was too afraid of making me uncomfortable, although I’m sure he could never do that.

Our drinks finally arrived. The waiter carefully placed the butterbeer with a fluffy rising foam on the top right in front of me, and another in front of Cedric. I nodded slightly and smiled at the waiter as a way to say thank you. Cedric thanked him verbally and even added an extra tip, and told him to have a goodnight. I gripped the handle of the glass delicately, and Cedric immediately took a sip of his.

I decided that sitting in silence would only make this situation worse and even more uncomfortable, so after taking a sip of my butterbeer and wiping my upper lip with a napkin, I spoke up. I would rather have Cedric talk with his smooth and charming voice than sit awkwardly, and talk myself which I knew if I did I would somehow manage to screw it up.
