CHAPTER FOURTEEN
LORELEI ALEXIS SPEARS

I was sitting uncomfortably on the crowded couch in the common room. Cramped between Luna, who was sitting on Lorenzo's lap. His hands were on her hips while her arms wrapped around his neck pulling him closer. It wasn't hard to guess, or see what they were doing.

A part of me wondered what that was like. I hadn’t kissed anyone like that. I hadn’t kissed anyone at all. Except for Colby, but we both agreed to forget about it. So does that really count? I didn’t think so. I didn’t think he thought it counted either.

While Lorenzo kissed Luna, I wondered if he ever just pretended she was actually the girl he wanted to kiss. Or, maybe he was trying to make her jealous? Maybe it was both. I didn’t really know. I couldn’t even begin to imagine myself in such a complicated situation like that.

On my other side was a boy with light hair, almost like a dirty blonde sort of color. His eyes were green, and for the love of god he could not stop staring at me like he wanted something. His gaze was flirtatious and when he smiled at me with that stupid smirk of his, a flash of pure white would show. His hands were slowly creeping up towards my knee, and he would've gotten further if I didn't uncomfortably shift closer to the couple next to me. Putting at least another good inch between me and the boy.

I wished once again for Colby to be here. He'd been gone a long time. That caused me to worry. What if Pansy really was in trouble? What if Colby and Nott were having a huge argument right now? I shouldn't have left him. I shouldn’t have listened to him and left like he told me to, I said to myself.

I could breathe again when I saw Colby finally making his way through the crowd of the lively party. A look of calm washed over his face made me relieved. That told me that things had gone well with Theodore. Or as well as they could get, I suppose.

Colby spotted the guy that was practically eyeing me up and down, and making me very uncomfortable. His face shifted immediately to one of annoyance.

Shoving his hand in the pockets of his jacket he approached in heavy footsteps. Every step getting heavier and heavier.

“Cormac.” He said in a low voice looking down at the boy next to me on the couch, “you really can't tell when you make a girl uncomfortable, can you?”

Cormac looked up at Colby, cocking an eyebrow mockingly.

“She likes it.” Cormac turned his head to me, “Don't you? My apologies, what's your name sweetheart? I’m Cormac McLaggen, but you can call me your future boyfriend.”

“Yeah. That's enough.” A familiar voice cut in, and this time it wasn't Colby. It was–Cedric?

My heart stopped as I looked up at the Hufflepuff boy. I'm sure everyone else also snapped their heads towards him. He was standing tall, but relaxed, his shoulders were back and his head held high. I had fully expected Colby to be my savior this time, as he usually was always the one to come to my rescue.

Maybe Colby would be the one to save me from Nott. Maybe Cedric would be the one to save me from unwanted flirts.

Cormac didn't say anything to respond to Cedric, but only looked at him with wide eyes as if he could not believe it was actually Cedric Diggory standing in front of him. To be fair, I didn't blame him. I could hardly bring myself to believe it either.
