As I snapped out of my thoughts I noticed that Derek was patiently watching me, scanning my face as if he was trying to read my thoughts.
"Are you ready for latin today?" I asked nudging him with my shoulder. He laughed and wrapped an arm around my shoulder as we started walking towards class.
"Now you know I'm always ready. If we need partners you're stuck with me." Derek said winking at me.
"Wouldn't have it any other way." I said as I started laughing again. Derek was willing to do anything so when I took interest in foreign language classes to gain extra credit Derek volunteered to join me. 'So we have many ways of communicating no matter the circumstance' he had said when we took Spanish, then french, and German. Now we are taking Italian and Latin. It's good to know different languages in the arts as well as in my fathers business. On many occasions he had me sit in on meetings quietly to listen while he met with men from all over about business just so he would have the jump if they were planning something different or making a move against him secertly. Derek and I walked into class together taking our normal seats towards the far middle table. As we sat I heard that was rather annoying, and I rolled my eyes knowing the drama that was bound to unfold before us. Marleigh was the schools pretty girl, she got away with a lot because her dad was the principal. She hated me and she wanted Derek but he never gave her the satisfaction. I glanced at the door just as Marliegh and her 2 minion friends walked in, I never remember their names. Marleigh had her brown hair in a messy bun which matched her brown eyes, however the bun was one of those messy buns where a girl tries to hard to make it look like she woke up like that but nobody says anything to her when she does it.

They would just say 'Oh I like your hair' to get her attention. She had on a red sweater and a pair of skiny jeans that were smaller to make her look curvier. She was only liked because her father was the principal and that meant they could try to get away with stuff as she did. You ought to think her father would hate me since she does and he probably would but he was me in high school and I make our school look good with my acedemic achievements and when my father was still a loving father and husband he made sure to make it known to the principal who he was and what he did for a living. At first I think it was fear and then when my father stopped being that loving dad, my mom died and I was showing how smart I was I think he genuinely started to not dislike me.
"Speaking of rodants, if it isn't the girl who looks like a rodant herself" I hear Marleigh say pulling me from my thoughts.
"Won't you ever just give it a break and focus on yourself?" I asked annoyance obvious in my voice. I could feel Derek's eyes burning into her now. She must have noticed too because she had now turned her attention to him.
"When will you realize she doesn't want you and you are better off without her?" She said slyly. I leaned back so he would know I won't be mad and know he could talk as he pleased without worrying what I thought.
Derek smiled before saying "Why are you so jealous of Bex? Is it cause I don't want you? I don't want somebody who wakes up everyday just to make others lives hell. I don't want somebody who acts like others are below them. Yes it is no secret how I feel for Bexley but she has made it clear where she stands and I am fine with that because she's the most genuine, beautiful and kind person I have ever met and she chooses to be friends with me. That is more than you could ever offer me."
I let out a small laugh as Marleigh scoffed and her friends stared at Derek like they didn't know whether to hate him for insulting their friend or love him for how much he cares about me. I was even quite surprised, I had never heard him talk about me like that to other people. Next thing I knew Marleigh's fist was in the air headed straight for my face I didn't even have time to react before taking a punch right to the left side of my face, her fist made contact next to my eye. Suddenly my head started to ache before I fell back but felt as Derek's arms scooped me up and suddenly heard our teacher before passing out. One punch knocked me out, she didn't even hit hard but I think I more of fainted or might have a concussion from the straight blow to the face. I woke up later in the day shortly before school ended, realizing I had missed most of the day I began to panic until I heard a familiar voice. I turned around to see Veyron talking to the nurse when he glanced my direction and seen I was awake he ran to me and hugged me.

"I'll get that evil little twit." he spat while trying to comfort me.
"It's okay V. She's not worth the breath." I whispered.
"Derek is going to meet you outside, he went to all of your teachers throughout the day and got your study material so you can graduate early still. My mom called me out of school tomorrow so I can watch after you at my house. You've been excused for 3 days as an apology from the principal and Derek will grab all of your stuff. You and Derek have an assignment for foreign language class, he said y'all can work on it this evening together at your house so he's going to give you a ride home." Veyron said with a small smile.
"You guys didn't have to do all this for me." I said slightly sad.
"It's what we're here for" Ember said as she appeared and nudged my shoulder. When we got outside Derek was waiting by his car.
"Hey there gorgeous" He said winking and opening the car door. I smiled and slid into the passenger seat. I pulled out my phone and the card with my fathers number on it and called my father letting my father know what had happened at school and told him about Derek coming to do homework with me. My father said that he had something come up so he would find me at home but didn't ask me if I was okay or ask any questions at all about the incident at school.
"Bex.." Derek started pulling me from my thoughts. I glanced at him and could tell he was struggling, almost like he was blaming himself for Marleighs actions.
"Derek, I'm okay and it wasn't your fault" I said making sure to show with my face that I was being sincere. He just nodded lightly and continued driving to my house. When we got to my house and entered the gate he drove down the long driveway which split into two. One led upfront to 3 garage stalls and a few spots in front of the house and the other one led around back where there was more parking spots. The back spots were designated for my visitors unless we hosted parties. So he took the path outback and parked.
