My house was huge, at first glance it'd look like an elegant single family home but once you see the side of it you realize it's much bigger. Especially when you see the back of the house. It's was a brick 3 story house, there was more than 1 of everything. My dad lived on bottom floor with his own kitchen and such. We shared the middle floor mostly with guests and that's where my father's office is. I lived on the top floor, it was my favorite due to so much natural light. I had a huge master bedroom as you walk in you'll see my huge California King size bed with silver silk sheets and grey coma inducer oversized fuzzy blanket there was also a canopy with a shear white canopy curtain that stayed tied up most of the time. I also had a huge 75" tv across from my bed. Directly across from the door passed my bed was a wall of window in the window was a sectional couch in the form of a c that fit perfectly in the window. There was 2 doors on the left, 1 door led to a balcony with 2 chairs both were bucket seat chairs. 1 hung from the ceiling I spent a lot of time there reading and one sat on the ground next to a matching table.
The other door led to a huge walk in closet with all my designer clothes, shoes and purses. The door on the right led to a small short hallway with mirrors on both side along with counters on both as you walked through you were met by another doorway that had 3 directions. Straight was to a huge tiled shower the size of an average room, it had 2 bench's and 2 square shower heads that sprayed straight down along with 2 shower heads that detached from the wall. If you go left of the doorway there's a toilet and a huge sink and counter space where I have everything such as my makeup and hair products and tools. The right of the doorway was a nearly empty room, there was many windows all of which were built to be 1 way windows so you can see out but not in and in the center of the floor was an elegant bathtub. It was white porcelain along the edge and wrapped in royal blue all around the outside and held up from the ground by gold intricate details such as sculpted tree blanches with leaves and delicate floral mortifs. Outside of my bedroom I also had a kitchen, dining room, living room, office, spare bedroom, 2 bathrooms, and a laundry room. There was 2 ways to get upstairs either the spiral staircase or the elevator. There was 2 elevators in the house one that went from middle floor to downstairs and one that came upstairs from middle floor.
Derek and I had gone to the kitchen on the main floor by my father's office to make food and work of our project. I did the work while Derek made honey garlic salmon, roasted red potatoes and bacon wrapped asparagus. When my father arrived he stopped in the kitchen said a quick hello to Derek and told me to give him 5 minutes then come in.
"When I'm done talking to my father we can take our food upstairs and watch a movie" I said smirking at Derek. We both knew we were going to watch Anyone But You, it was both of our favorite movie. He smiled and nodded.
"Good luck B" he said winking as I headed to my father's office and I just rolled my eyes at him. As I entered my father's office he was 1finishing up a paper at his desk so I waited until he was done. When he was done he looked up at me, I could tell by the look in his eye it was serious which made me nervous.
"I'm going to get right to the point. You know you're too be married to someone of my choosing when you graduate. I want you to marry Declan Fraser in one month." He said with little emotion in his face. My mouth dropped open in surprise.
"I..I.." I started "I thought that had changed when you and mom decided to let me decide." I said quietly. I seen his eyes gloss over as he relived the memory then saw a hint of anger and sadness."It doesn't matter what we decided then. This is now and this is what you're doing. Text this number it's Declan's and find a time to decide to move forward with these plans." He said sternly while handing me a piece of paper with a number on it. I just nodded in agreement. His phone began to ring and he signaled with his hand for me to leave so I did. I texted the number as I stood outside his door. I got a quick response, next week. I would be gone from my house Monday and married just as fast. As I walked out I saw Derek loading the dishes in the dishwasher and had our plates made. I walked over and started helping load the dishwasher. I glanced over and knew just by the expression on Derek's face he had heard my father. My father's office walls were rather thin but it never mattered since no one was on the middle floor besides staff mostly and myself. When we were done he turned to me to speak but I shook my head and pointed up to tell him we could talk upstairs. He nodded and we grabbed our food and went upstairs. He put his plate down on my living room table before grabbing mine and doing the same then turning back to me and placing his hands on my shoulders.
"I'm very aware of how the business works and the rules of the business but do you really have no say? I mean Declan Fraser is known for being cruel. He's twice your age and he's had wives before. They all have disappeared or died and we all know it's more than what it appears to be." He said with certainty.
"Maybe I'll be different. I mean if I don't my father will kill me. You know more than anybody but V that he turned cold after she died. Declan texted and said next week he'll come get me Monday." I said quietly with some sadness. I hated talking about my mom and how life changed when she died. I looked up at him when I noticed I was focused on the floor and I saw the sympathy in his eyes.
"What if he kills you Bex?" He said in a low tone as if he was seeing my death right before us.
"If he tries then I will run. I'll find somewhere I can hide." I said quietly. We sat down to eat our food now before it got cold.
"I'll buy us both burner phones. If things go bad call me. I'll start taking some cash out and buy a house now so that way it's hidden and taken care of as a safe house for you." He said as if planning in his head.
"Derek I can't ask you to do that. Your family will kill you." I said quietly.
"I'd follow you to the ends of earth even if we were just friends" he said staring at me as if taking in every inch of me. At that I smiled. We ate and then I cuddled up next to him and we watched "Anyone But You" for the 700th time. Before the movie was over I had fallen asleep, I guess the days events to a longer toll on me than I thought.
