The Empress were pacing in front of the still kow towing minister tapping the side of his nose thoughtfully as the Emperor looks on with an amuse look not that everyone can read his facial expression as it was still so inpassive.

"Minster Shu, it is right?."

Empress Wuxian asked as soon as he stopped pacing, and Jiang Cheng and the first prince just shook their heads as Jiang Wayin rolled his eyes at his brothers antics. Said minister nodded his head frantically.

"Forgive this one, but I am coming to the realization, and please correct me if I'm wrong. It seems that even though there were already decided and by your Emperor himself that their would be no Imperial harem and he would take no concubine."

Empress Wuxian said thoughtfully before he glanced at the Emperor, who nodded his head at him.

"Wen Rouhan even took that decision as a personal insult and started a senseless war because his ego was hurt and looked what it cost him."

The Empress continues as he look down at the man and then elder council Lan Fen, who was still standing with their heads bowed.

"Minister Shu, please stop with your kow towing it's making me dizzy."

The Empress said, and the man immediately stopped but kept his forehead on the floor.

"Thank you. So where was I?."

The Empress said mostly to himself before he continued.

"My Emperor, would I be correct if I say that some of your Ministers and Elder Council might be undermining your authority, or are they just plain dumb in their thinking."

The Empress asked with genuine curiosity in his voice as he looked at the Emperor.

"My Empress is correct in his analysis. It seems I have been too soft, or I have not made myself clear in my own desires when I said that I won't take any concubines or open the Imperial harem."

Emperor Lan Wangji spoke with a cold voice as he glared at the two men standing before them, and he let his eyes roam the hall as it rested on a few members of his court. They all sanked a little deeper into their seats when the Emperor's gaze fell on them.

"I see. So what they are saying indirectly is that I am incapable of bearing your children or that you, my Emperor, are incapable of making me with a child. So...."

Empress Wuxian spoke frankly and hard enough for the whole court to hear, and soft murmers started to go around the hall. Emperor Lan Wangji kept his face expressionless, but his ears turned red. The first prince coughed into his arm to hide his chuckle, and he wasn't the only one to do so. Minister Nie, Jiang Wayin, and Jin Zixuan did the same as the Empress personal maids lowered their heads to hide their smiles.

"So if you, the Emperor, are incapable of making me with child. Tell me esteem members of the Royal court. How will he be able to impregnate. How many concubines did you have in mind for the Emperor to bed, exactly Minster Shu and elder council Lan Fen?."

Empress Wuxian asked with open curiosity in his voice as the Emperor only looked on. Both men kept quiet.

"I have asked you a question. How many?."

"Only one or two."

Elder Council Lan Fen answered reluctantly.

"Thank you for your answer, elder council Lan. Well, that's not so bad at all, considering that, let me see. The only minister insisted on my Emperor taking in concubines. Can it be that you want your daughter. Mm, what's her name again?."
