Two weeks after the guests had left and the Emperor and Empress had a chance to spend some well-deserved time together, things in the palace returned to normal. During those two weeks and since the Emperor had asked the Wen king to leave things from their side, which remained suspiciously quiet, and the Emperor did not sit on his lower thinking that the Wen king would let go of things so easily.
The Imperial soldiers and guards underwent rigorous training more so than ever. Their training were overseen by Nie Mingjue, the war general, and the war council had been making sure to be kept updated in case anything should change. Patrols on the borders off the Imperial City and states we're doubled and soldiers were stationed there indefinitely for the time being.
The Queen and Wen Qing kept a very keen and close eye on the Empress. Due to the advanced medicine that the Queen had brought, the toxins and any negative lingering effects were flushed from the Empress body. The scars on his back and the spiritual lighting of zidian that were embedded inside the scars were successfully removed over the last week or so. The only thing left know was a waiting game to see when the Empress would go into his first heat and how intense and severe it would be.
"A-Ying, I think it's time that you think about training your two personal maids, Mingxia and Mingzhu. "
The Queen told her grandson when they were taking a leisurely walk through the Imperial garden one afternoon. The Empress stopped and turned to look at his grandmother with a small confusing frown on his beautiful face.
"A-Ying."
The Queen said as she stopped and looked at her grandson before she continued.
"With what had happened during the royal wedding and you and the Emperor going to attend the wedding of young lady Jiang to young master Jin in the next two months. Well, I would like to believe that no one will try something or try to hurt you, so it will bring so much peace to me if you have people by yourside that you can trust other than the Emperor."
She said, and the Empress thought long and hard on what the Queen had said. He dipped his head to the side and asked the Queen.
"What does grandmother suggest?."
He asked with real curiosity and interest in his voice.
"Well, I would like to train them myself before I have to return back to my kingdom. Teach them the basics of poison with the collective help with the Imperial Physician. What to do and how to identify any danger directed at you directly or the Emperor. I do not trust that Wen Rouhan won't try anything or, for that matter, Yu Ziyuan."
She said honestly as a ting of anger slipped into her voice at the mention of that woman's name. The Empress nodded his head in understanding at her words. He himself was surprised that she didn't try anything or even try to humiliate him in front of everyone during the wedding and crowning. But if there is one thing he knows about her, it is that she won't let go of things so easily, and she will one way or the other try to hurt him.
"You think that she would try something at the wedding of shijie and the peacock grandmother. I don't think that she would want to bring shame to her daughter on her special day."
The Empress voice, his own opinion but a small voice in the back of his head, reminded him that he should not try and be too comfortable and that he should not put anything pass that rachet woman.
"A-Ying, you have much to learn about people like her. She is probably furious that you not only became the Empress. The mother of the nation but also the crown prince of the Celestial Kingdom. I will be honest, though, my grandson. I will make her regret for the way she had treated you in the past she and her husband."
