The days following their date saw a noticeable change in the dynamic between Pon and Sailub. The two were growing closer, their interactions filled with a warmth and understanding that hadn't been there before. Although they hadn't put an exact label on their relationship, it was clear to everyone around them that something special was blossoming between them.
The garage, usually a place of intense focus and work, had become a bit more lively with Pon and Sailub's easy camaraderie. They worked together seamlessly, often exchanging smiles and quiet conversations as they tuned up the cars and prepared for races. The rest of the team noticed, of course, and while they respected Pon and Sailub's privacy, it didn't stop them from teasing them every now and then.
One particular day, as the team was gathered in the break room, Nut couldn't resist making a comment. "You know, Sailub, if you keep smiling like that every time Pon walks into the room, people might start thinking you're actually happy for a change."
Sailub shot Nut a playful glare but couldn't keep the grin off his face. "I'll let them think whatever they want," he replied, his gaze drifting toward Pon, who was engrossed in a conversation with Toptan about some new parts they'd just received.
The team shared knowing looks, and even Nut, who was typically more reserved, couldn't help but smirk. It was clear to everyone that Sailub was smitten, and while Pon was more subtle in his affection, it was evident that he cared deeply for the pack alpha.
As the days passed, another event began to take center stage in their lives: baby Aon's upcoming second birthday. The team had taken it upon themselves to plan the celebration, much to Pon's initial protest.
"Sailub, this is too much," Pon said one afternoon as he stood in the office, looking over a list of things the team had already purchased for the party. "Aon's just turning two. He doesn't need all of this."
Sailub, who was sitting at his desk, glanced up from his work with a smile. "It's not just for Aon, Pon. It's for all of us. We want to make this day special for him—and for you."
"But you're all spending so much," Pon said, exasperated. "I don't want anyone to feel obligated to do this."
Sailub got up and walked over to Pon, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "No one feels obligated, Pon. We're doing this because we want to. Aon has become a part of our lives, just like you have. Let us do this for him."
Pon looked up at Sailub, his resistance wavering. Sailub's sincerity was disarming, and Pon knew deep down that the team's excitement came from a place of genuine care. He sighed, finally relenting. "Okay, but please, no more extravagant gifts. Aon will be just as happy with a simple celebration."
Sailub chuckled. "I'll try to keep that in mind, but you know how everyone is. They're all eager to spoil him."
And Sailub wasn't exaggerating. The team had gone all out in planning the event, from decorations to a special cake, and even a small area in the garage was being transformed into a play zone for Aon. Every member of the team had chipped in, bringing toys, games, and gifts that they were sure Aon would love.
Toptan and Michael had taken charge of decorating, while Nut had surprisingly taken on the task of organizing the food. Even Pavel and Pooh, who were usually preoccupied with their racing schedules, had set aside time to help with the preparations.
Sailub, of course, was at the center of it all, quietly overseeing everything while making sure Pon didn't stress too much. He had already arranged for a crib, toys, and even a small jungle gym to be delivered to the garage. Despite Pon's protests, Sailub simply reassured him that everything was for Aon's happiness.
