The sterile scent of antiseptic filled the room, mingling with the soft hum of the hospital machinery. Sailub sat beside Pon's bed, his eyes darting between the unconscious face of his omega and the small, bright smile of his son, Aon. The little boy, oblivious to the tension in the room, was happily playing with a plush toy, giggling as Sailub gently wiggled it in front of him. For a moment, the innocence of Aon's laughter lifted the heavy burden on Sailub's heart, but the worry for Pon lingered like a dark cloud.
"Dada," Aon cooed, reaching out to grab Sailub's hand, his tiny fingers curling around one of Sailub's larger ones. The sight brought a soft smile to Sailub's lips, and he leaned down to press a kiss to Aon's forehead, grateful for this small moment of peace amidst the storm that had battered their family.
But then, the door to the room creaked open, and Sailub's heart skipped a beat. He looked up to see the doctor stepping in, a clipboard in hand and a somber expression on his face. The air in the room seemed to grow heavier, and Sailub's grip on Aon tightened slightly. The doctor's presence brought with it an aura of authority and an undercurrent of tension, as if he carried news that could either shatter or save Sailub's world.
The doctor, a middle-aged man with kind eyes and a gentle demeanor, approached the bedside, his gaze shifting between Pon and Sailub. He offered a reassuring smile, but Sailub could sense the gravity of what he was about to say.
"Mr. Hemmawich," the doctor began, his voice calm but serious. "I have some news regarding your omega."
Sailub swallowed hard, feeling his heart pound in his chest. He nodded, urging the doctor to continue, all the while keeping a protective arm around Aon.
The doctor glanced down at his notes before meeting Sailub's gaze again. "We've run several tests, and we've confirmed that Mr. Aiemkumchai is pregnant."
The words hung in the air like a lifeline, pulling Sailub from the depths of despair. Pregnant. Sailub's breath caught in his throat as the realization sank in. Pon was pregnant. They were going to have another child. His mind flooded with emotions—joy, excitement, and a fierce protectiveness that surged through him like a tidal wave.
"Pregnant," Sailub repeated softly, his eyes widening with a mixture of shock and happiness. He looked down at Pon, his omega, who was carrying their second child, and felt a swell of love so intense it almost overwhelmed him.
"Yes, congratulations," the doctor said with a small smile, though his expression remained cautious. "However, I must advise that we need to be vigilant. The blood you saw earlier is concerning, and while we're monitoring both Mr. Aiemkumchai and the baby closely, there is a risk involved."
Sailub's happiness was momentarily overshadowed by a wave of anxiety. He recalled the image of the blood on Pon's pants, the fear that had gripped him at the sight. The thought of something happening to Pon or their unborn child was unbearable. He looked at the doctor, his voice strained with worry.
"What does that mean? Is Pon... are they going to be okay?" Sailub asked, his hand tightening around Aon's.
The doctor nodded, his expression sympathetic. "At this stage, it's difficult to say with certainty, but we're taking every precaution. The bleeding could be due to stress or the physical trauma from earlier. We'll need to keep Mr. Aiemkumchai on strict bed rest for the time being to ensure the pregnancy progresses safely. Any additional stress or physical strain could be dangerous."
Sailub's mind raced as he absorbed the doctor's words. Stress and physical trauma. His thoughts flicked back to Bank, to the violent encounter that had left Pon unconscious. Anger flared in his chest, but he forced it down, knowing he needed to stay focused on Pon and their baby.
"I understand," Sailub said quietly, his voice filled with resolve. "I'll make sure Pon is taken care of. No stress, no strain. Whatever it takes."
The doctor nodded approvingly. "That's the best course of action. We'll continue to monitor Mr. Aiemkumchai closely. If there are any further complications, we'll address them immediately."
With that, the doctor made some final notes on his clipboard and gave Sailub a reassuring pat on the shoulder before leaving the room, the door clicking softly behind him.
Sailub sat there for a moment, his emotions swirling like a storm inside him. He looked down at Aon, who had quieted, sensing the shift in his father's mood. The little boy looked up at Sailub with wide, curious eyes, his tiny hands reaching up to touch his father's face.
"Dada..." Aon murmured, his voice filled with innocent concern.
Sailub smiled gently, feeling his heart swell with love for his son. He leaned down, pressing a kiss to Aon's forehead, and whispered, "It's okay, Aon. Papa's going to be fine. You're going to have a little brother or sister soon."
Aon's face lit up with a small, sleepy smile, and he nestled closer into Sailub's chest, his eyelids drooping as he drifted back to sleep. Sailub continued to hold him, the weight of Aon's tiny body grounding him in the moment, helping to keep his focus on what mattered most: his family.
Sailub turned his gaze back to Pon, his heart aching with both love and fear. The sight of his omega lying so still, so fragile, stirred something primal within him—a need to protect, to shelter, to keep Pon and their children safe at all costs. The thought of losing any of them was too painful to even consider.
But along with the fear came a fierce determination. Sailub knew what he had to do. Bank's actions had crossed every line, and now, with Pon and their unborn child at risk, there was no room for mercy. He would do whatever it took to ensure that Bank could never harm his family again.
But for now, Sailub forced himself to focus on the present. He leaned down, gently brushing a strand of hair from Pon's forehead, his touch tender. "We're going to be okay," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "I'm going to take care of you, of all of us. We're going to get through this, and we're going to be stronger for it."
Sailub stayed by Pon's side, holding Aon close as he watched over his mate. The room was quiet, but it was a quiet filled with hope, love, and the promise of a future where they could finally be at peace.
And as Sailub sat there, his heart full, he knew that no matter what came next, he would face it with the strength of his love for Pon and their family. Together, they would overcome anything.
