The girl and another guy walked up to us with a wide smile on their faces.

"Hi mate, you ready for it?" The guy said, patted him on the back, looked down at me and back at Lando.

"Yes yes I'm ready" he quickly got up, hugged the guy and at the girl as well.

"Good to see you again" he said in such a soft voice, I never heard him like that before. Never saw him look at someone like that either.

"You too Lando, I'm excited to be here again" she smiled enthusiastically.

"So uh-" Lando said as he held his hand out for me. Okay we were gonna pretend in front of them as well I guess. "This is Riley, my girlfriend"

Oh we were definitely pretending.

"This is Max, my best friend and his girlfriend Xanthi" he introduced them as well.

I snapped my head at Lando, maybe a bit too obvious but he avoided my eye contact.

He knew how confused I was.

He was in love with his best friend's girlfriend?

Yeah this was bad, very bad.

"Hi Riley" Xanthi said with a smile. "It's so nice to meet you"

"Didn't know you had a girlfriend, mate?" Max looked at Lando. "It's very recent" he answered.

Yeah we've been dating for 1 minute now. Very very recent.

"Sure" Max mumbled, he probably knew something was up. Lando was his best friend and he never saw me, Lando never mentioned me.

And all of a sudden, he was dating me.

"Oh that's so cute" Xanthi smiled. "We should totally go on a double date"

"Sure" Lando smiled.

Why was he pushing us into an even deeper mess? Now we also had to pretend in front of his best friend and the girl he was in love with?

He owed me a damn good explanation for that.

"So Riley, did Lando show you around the paddock already?" Xanthi asked. "Uh-a little bit"

"I will give you a little tour and we will get some ice cream in the meantime" she looked at Lando with a little smirk while she said that.

So only minutes later, I was walking with Xanthi through the paddock.

"So how did you and Lando meet?" She broke the silence. Everyone asked this question, I knew we had to be prepared for it.

"In the supermarket, I bumped into him" I said. "And then we met again in a club in Monaco when I was out with my sister"

"Classic" she chuckled. "But I am so happy, he deserves it, he's been through a lot"

Yeah I bet, he's still in love with her. Did she even realize that?

"How long have you been dating Max?" I asked.

"Half a year, maybe a little longer"

So Lando has been thinking about her for half a year, been a mess for that time as well.

"So Lando and you met through Max?" I asked. I just didn't understand their relationship.

"No, actually the other way around" she smiled. "I met Max through Lando"

"Oh right okay" I nodded.

Lando definitely had to explain this to me because I was so confused.
He was in love with Xanthi, couldn't forget about her but Xanthi was dating his best friend?

How fucked up was this?

And to make things worse, now we had to pretend we were together in front of them.

The people who knew him best.

I agreed with this for one weekend, but this was way more than I agreed on.
I had my own stuff going on, I didn't have time for this.

We agreed on having sex with no string attached.

But these were a lot of strings attached, way too many.
