A/N: Hey guys, how are y'all doing? It's been a loooong time, and I hope you have not gotten so frustrated to the point you have decided to leave me. I was not in the best mood and was also suffering from a bad writers block, to the point I was procrastinating so much for this chapter. Unforgivable, I know. I'm sorry.
And... then I spent the last four hours or so speedwriting the last few pages because I was determined to post today. But now I have no energy to reread and do corrections, and yet again I'm posting an unedited chapter. I'm sorry about that too. But I wish despite all that y'all still will be able to enjoy. XO
Hong Guang felt so pathetic and wished that she had also stayed behind. No. She felt like she'd rather trip from one of these monstrous rocks and die, saving the embarrassment for the afterlife. What was she thinking when she agreed to go to the battle with them? She could not even walk on these rocks without slipping and sliding. She felt like Chun Hua would have somehow achieved the task without much difficulty. But as for herself, she was heavily relying and embarrassingly leaning on Qi Xue and Zi Zhen. Her face all red and puffy. Her arms and feet already scratched from the countless times she had almost fallen to her dead.
Her foot slipped again. Seriously, why couldn't it stay on the ground? It was all she could do to keep herself from screaming. Thankfully, Qi Xue grabbed her waist before she could fall to the ground. She saw Wu Xian giving her a pitiful glance. She was about to say that she didn't need his concern when a muffled scream came from behind.
It was Huai Sang. He was not fairing much better than her either. This was the first time Hong Guang had seen a weakness in him making her contemplate whether her sister's judgement was at least somewhat accurate. It seemed like he really regretted telling his general and deputy general to join the other two groups.
"Can't you keep your mouth shut without screaming like a mouse?" Jiang Cheng barked even louder.
"Jiang Xiong, shooo." Huai Sang said so calmly, very animatedly putting his finger in front of his lips.
Even Hong Guang feared for tiny sect leader Nie's life. But Jiang Cheng only scowled back and walked to the front. Maybe even someone like sect leader Jiang believed that the situation was too dire to start a fight. Hong Guang heaved a sigh.
They have been walking for almost an hour without finding anything significant. Nor did they enemy showed any interest in attacking, that is, if they were even on the vicinity. There was no signal or message from the other two groups either. Which meant they hadn't found anything either.
"Are you sure they are still here, if they ever were in the first place?" Jin Ling asked, wording everyone's concern. "This darn place looks pretty abandoned to me."
"Young master Jin, I would have thought so too myself and would have called off this whole thing by now." Xi Chen said. "But you saw how many misleading arrays we had to thread through. We cannot just dismiss their existence."
"Yes, these darn arrays." Wu Xian said, crinkling his face, trying to concentrate to see through one such array. They were already giving him a headache. "I think we are not looking hard enough."
"Wei Xiong, what do you mean we are not looking hard enough?" Huai Sang wailed huffing so badly, hoping he could just collapse to the ground. He already knew what Wu Xian meant. The paths they took were already rough. But they were still paths. But there are areas higher up in the mountains that none of these "paths" led to. It was true that Huai Sang was tired and sweating. But up until now, he was half pretending his clumsiness. But if they are to venture further up, he was sure he wouldn't even have to pretend anymore.
