Instantly, she was relieved and happy. Oh, it was just Yong Zheng. Wait it was Yong Zheng. Unlike her muscle memory reaction, her brain started grasping the actual situation. This was the man they were hunting. More scarily, this was the man that's hunting her. The man that's most likely kidnapped her sister. Anger surged within her, and she wished she also had a good sword like Qi Xue's with her. She yanked at the hand covering her mouth and tried to scream.
But it was to no avail. She knew Yong Zheng was stronger than her. Well, the toned muscles of his arms were a constant reminder anyway. But at that moment, it felt like he had a strength of a lion in his arms. So, Hong Guang abandoned her mission, even though she hated that she was so pathetically overpowered, and it also restricted her breathing. She felt tears welling in her eyes by the humiliating situation she was in. But the last thing she wanted was to make them fall and look even more pathetic. Since her speech privileges were snatched away from her, she shot a question from her eyes to Yong Zheng. "What?"
Yong Zheng heaved a sigh. Then he spoke in such a low voice that could even barely be considered a whisper, Hong Guang was so surprised she could hear it. "Why does it have to be you? I was really hoping it was someone else. That other girl that walked with you would have been way better. I was hoping for that nephew of theirs, but he went the other way. And then you had to come so close. I couldn't have let you go. You would have spotted me any second and would have instantly warned them. Can't let that happen. Don't worry. This will only be for a while. You will be free soon. I'm so sorry for this. But then again, what sort of leverage would you even be? Will they even bat an eye if I kill you?"
'Kill her? He was going to kill her?' Hong Guang's breath hitched at his words, and a violent shudder went down her spine. She tried to struggle again, but even before she could try, Yong Zheng spun her around and a cold metal kiss of a dagger blade was on her neck. She wasn't even angry; she was just filled with the urge to cry. She knew Yong Zheng was the enemy, and she would be lying if she said she didn't imagine countless brutal things he could have done to her sister when she was trying to desperately fall asleep these past few nights. But the thought that Yong Zheng is just willing to kill her with no regret was just too much. Yes, she disliked him. But wasn't he still a part of their family?
But she somehow managed to keep her emotions under control as Yong Zheng led her back to the centre of the room. Most of the others have returned back, and was curiously looking over their direction as they immerged. Of course, Yong Zheng spoke in a really low voice, but these were the highest-level cultivators of the world. They must have heard something if not each individual word. Another thing Hong Guang noticed was that, the black clad people that looked so docile before was no longer docile. Their leader has taken action and they were so tense as predators about to leap on their pray, ready to leap to their leader's aid at the shortest notice. The cultivators also looked so ready for a battle. But they seemed to take a step back literally or figuratively as they saw Hong Guang with a blade to her neck.
Yong Zheng stopped, simply shocked by their expressions. 'They... actually care...? They care whether someone like Hong Guang would live or die?'
"Please, don't hurt her." Huai Sang begged. But unlike his usual pathetic voice, even though he was begging, his voice was strong.
"Let go of her, you bastard." Qi Xue said through gritted teeth, pointing her sword at Yong Zheng. "I know you hate her for some darn reason. But she is a really good person. So, if you spill even one drop of her blood, I'm going to make sure you rot in hell for eternity."
"Now, now, beautiful lady, don't work yourself up for nothing." Yong Zheng said in a sweet, flirtatious voice. There was no indication that he was intimidated to be facing all these cultivators. Despite herself, Hong Guang wondered whether he had ever used that voice on her sister. Is this how he managed to charm her? "You see. That is not up to me at all. I do not know what dear Hong Guang had told you about me. But we were getting really close towards the end of our acquaintance, weren't we A-Guang? Therefore, I have no wish to hurt my dear friend and sister-in-law here."
