Lauren
"Why? Why would you show me that?! What was the point?!" I screamed making my voice hoarse.
Max comes and puts his arm around my shoulder pulling me into a hug where I continue to sob into his chest.
"There's a reason," he whispers in my ear, "listen"
I unfold myself from his embrace and look at the giants.
"Why?" I squeak.
"Because we're sending you back." The middle one booms.
"You..what? You can do that?"
"With limits, yes. You should not have died yet Lauren Price. It was not your time."
"I'm going back?" I whisper to myself incredulously.
"There's a catch, Miss. Price." Council Leader Waters says.
"Well, what is it?" I say anxiously. "I'll do anything."
"You will not remember this. You will be sent back to Earth with no recollection of Heaven or that you're going to die." Waters says solemnly.
"But..how will I..?"
"It is Max's responsibility to keep you safe. He is your guardian angel and only he can save you from Charlie."
"Why didn't he the first time?" I ask looking back at Max who is staring at his shoes.
He mumbles something I can't understand. "You what?"
"I panicked. I've been your guardian angel your whole life and I've never had to save you from anything. Except Charlie."
"You failed then too! I was in hell, pardon me, for three months being beaten by him and you did nothing?"
"I tried. I tried and tried but you weren't willing to be helped. There are certain rules and limitations on what I can do. You have to want help. You didn't. Not until the very end. When you got out of the house to call the cops that night? I was able to hold him back because you finally wanted saving."
I process this for a minute.
"I'm sure I wanted help the night I died. Why didn't you help me then?"
"Like I said..I panicked." he mumbles looking at his shoes again. "But not again. I'm gonna get you through this, Lauren. You're going to live. I promise."
I guess I have no choice but to trust him.
"Okay." I say, turning back to Council members. "I'm ready."
A flash and I'm gone.

My eyes open slowly and painfully to the sound of my alarm. 6:00 a.m. Ugh. I lazily reach over and turn the alarm off before shaking the sleep off and sitting up. I sit there for a minute confused. It's a hard feeling to explain but I feel like I'm forgetting something.
Oh well.
I step onto the cold floor with my bare feet. I really should put carpet in my room. I scoot to the bathroom, turn my phone's volume all the way up and put my shower playlist on shuffle.
While the water warms up I undress and look at myself in the mirror wishing I was happier with what I see. Nothing is wrong with me; I usually have a pretty good self esteem. It's because I just woke up that I think I look like utter crap. I notice a long red line down my arm and am confused at where it came from.
I'm about to observe it closer when I realize the water is probably warm by now so I get in the shower and do all the shaving and cleaning that needs to be done.
