Be My Guardian AngelPrologue
I woke up but I hadn't opened my eyes yet. It seemed like I was in a very foreign place; I've never been here but I feel like I belong. This is where I'm supposed to be and nothing has ever felt more right. I felt as if I'm as light as air and could float rather than walk. I've never felt so peaceful and so..painless. I'm used to waking up with some kind of back pain or neck pain, but I don't even feel the slightest. It's as if I was once weighted down, and now I'm free.
Finally, curiosity got the best of me, so I opened my eyes. I'd never in a million years suspected this to be the place of my awakening. I'm not even sure where "this place" is, but I'll tell you one thing; it's bright. The brightness should have been blinding me but instead it seemed more peaceful and..homely.
As I look around the area, I don't see much. I see people with flawless complexions, dressed in all white. Over in the distance, I notice there's fog surrounding the floors and sleek white desks. The people seem to be working - everyone rushing around but not in panic - accompanied by clipboards. What on earth was I doing here? Looking down at myself, I notice that I'm dressed all in white too.
How did I get here? Nothing looks remotely familiar and I have no idea what I'm doing. I begin to walk around the area in the hopes that someone can give me some answers.
"Excuse me?" I ask every once in a while as I pass people with clipboards who seem to be ignoring me. For seemingly perfect people, they sure are rude! I continue to walk along this "endless" area, unsure of what it is I'm looking for.
"Ahem. EXCUSE ME!" I say a little louder, growing more impatient and confused. Nobody seems to be paying attention to anything other than whatever is on those clipboards.
"Lauren!" I finally hear someone's masculine voice call, though I'm not sure who it is. I look around for the person whose voice it belongs to, but the owner is nowhere to be found. Am I hearing things? Ah well, it's nothing new.
"Lauren!" I hear my name being called by the same masculine voice I'd heard the first time. This time I don't bother attempting to find the voice as I continue on with my trek.
It happened three times, the last one sounding so close I could feel its cool breath on the back of my neck. I was startled at the sudden closeness, turning around to face my caller.
I wasn't sure what I was expecting the caller's physical appearance to be, but it was a good one. He was tall - but not too tall - with a nice tanned complexion and the biggest brown puppy-dog eyes. Oh boy, I thought to myself. He had the most beautiful golden brown hair that was short - but not too short - in a nice, but not too obnoxious quiff. He was the most handsome person I'd ever met and almost..angelic.
"Hey, I've been trying to catch up to you but boy you sure do move fast! You don't even know where you're going, for crying out loud! Anyways, you have to come with me. The Council sent me to find you and they aren't patient so-" he was talking a mile a minute.
Wait, council? I hadn't the faintest clue who or what he was trying to tell me about, but I felt that hey if he's cute why not follow him?
"Hold on there, cowboy! What are you talking about, council? How do you know my name? Gee, I don't mean to sound rude but who the heck are you ??" I asked him, exasperatingly throwing my hands up and scrunching my nose - a bad nervous habit of mine.
"Oh. Sorry, it's just that I know you, but you may not know or remember me very well. I'm Max," he said as he worked his charming smile on me.
"Max. Um, nope don't know a Max sorry" I crossed my arms in front of my chest. "Could you PLEASE just tell me what the heck I'm doing here and how you know me?" This "Max" fellow sure was cute but I wasn't about to fall for it. I needed answers, not distractions. I might just explode, and not a pretty Fourth of July explosion either. More like action-movie, murderous explosion.
