"Hey babe?" I yell from the bathroom Alex and I now share.

"Yeah?" He yells back, over the TV.

"You don't happen to have any tampons do you?" This was our first day officially living together. I unpacked the last of my boxes and had everything I needed; everything except tampons.

"That would be a no." He replies.

"Shit." I mutter under my breath. I wad up some toilet paper to serve as a makeshift pad before getting off the toilet and checking my makeup in the mirror.

I exit the bathroom and walk into the living room. I lean down and give him a kiss on the cheek before shrugging on my coat and grabbing my purse and keys from the new kitchen table I demanded he buy to replace that old one he had. It looked like a leg could break any second and knowing him he'd just try and fix it with duct tape.

By now, he's gotten off the counter and walks me to the door.

"Where are you going? It's almost midnight?" He asks, holding the front door open even though he's just in his boxers.

"Nature calls." I reply. "I'm just going to Walmart to get girly things. I'll be back soon. I love you." I stand on my toes to give him a kiss on the mouth before going out to his car which he lets me borrow.

"I love you too!" He yells to me in the driveway. "Be careful!" I give him a thumbs up through the windshield before backing out and driving off.

I rummage through the shelves for a good five minutes before finally finding the brand I want, shoved way at the back of the shelf. With my luck, it's a rather high shelf so I stand on the bottom two so that my arm reaches back far enough to get what I want.

Curse my height.

When I finally get the package without killing myself I walk through the nearly deserted Walmart, stopping at the only register open.

I start digging through my purse, looking for my wallet which seems to have a disappeared. I place the package on the conveyor belt, not bothering to look up as I continue to look for that damn wallet.

"Is this all for you?" The cashier asks. I mentally cringe upon hearing that the cashier is a guy; that will never not be awkward.

"Uh, yeah, just one minute." I answer, hearing the beep of him ringing up the tampons when I finally find my wallet.

"Ah, here we go." I laugh, looking up and handing him a ten dollar bill before stopping abruptly.

This guy is like unnaturally handsome. Brown hair styled in a sort of quiff, with honey brown eyes to match.

"Are you okay?" He asks, worriedly.

"Um yeah, sorry I just got distracted."

He takes my ten and gives me my change back before bagging my pack of tampons. Ugh.

I glance down at his name tag; Max. Pretty generic name if you ask me but I like it. It suits him.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He asks me again, handing me the bag, brushing his fingers against mine causing heat to run up my arm.

"Um yeah, I am. You just..look really familiar."
