Two days passed since Bell had been attacked and one day since he reported his level up.
Right now the city was in full pandemonium at the news that some nobody had beaten the Sword Princesses record.
Many cast doubt on the claim. Saying the boy must've been part of a wandering familia and got experience that way.
Which wasn't far from the truth. But then again Bell only had a falna at some mountain cabin in the middle of nowhere. He wasn't an adventurer and by a technicality, he did beat the Sword Princesses record.
"I wonder how the city will react when I level up again." Bell thought carving a piece of wood. He had picked a bucket full up yesterday on his way home from the guild.
"Probably the same but this time they'll believe you. Which means a whole lot more attention that you don't want!" Regis teased.
Bell sighed as he tossed away another failed carving of Ardee. "I can only foresee future headaches the more I level up. One is Freya and the other is the city itself."
Bell grabbed another piece of wood and began to try again. This would be somewhere close to his 30th attempt at this.
"Oh yeah, it'll be a big bundle of joy and fun. Now question, why are you carving Ardee a figurine instead of, oh I don't know using your earth magic to make one instantly?" Regis asked. The two were currently relaxing in Bell's room and lying on the boy's bed.
Nazha had ordered the dungeon party to take a break for a few days to let the heat on Bell die down. Meaning there weren't many places the boy could go.
Welf was immediately informed by Regis and the boy understood completely. Bell had gotten attacked and then made the city explode at his mere name. He would spend this time making Bell some new armor.
Bell needed to lay low for a while. But not the rest of the familia who were currently manning a stand outside of Babel tower. Which Bell found odd, why would three people need to run one stand?
"Because that's easy and lazy. Besides, I want to actually give Ardee something I made by hand. Not by magic."
Bell clicked his tongue and threw another failed attempt away. He sighed and grabbed his 31st attempt.
Regis just smiled as he slowly turned his head to Bell. "Is that a hint of affection I hear in your voice?"
"Shut up!" Bell told him.
"Oooh, Ardee, and Bell, sitting in a tree f-
Regis didn't have time to finish his little song as Bell had kicked him off the bed. "You already know that nothing like that can happen between us."
Regis landed on his feet and jumped back on the bed. "Oh god, you're going with this moody shit again. Regis, I'm too busy brooding in the corner to be with her. If she found out my dark secret she'd hate me."
Bell rolled his eyes, and the urge to kick Regis again was high. "Except this isn't like Haruhime. Ardee got hurt really badly during the Dark Age. I don't know exactly what happened but it made her stop being an adventurer. If she found out I was related to one of the people who started it. Well, I don't know how she would react."
Regis just rolled his eyes. "I'm pretty sure Ardee can differentiate you and Alfia. You need to stop trying to take responsibility for her actions. You're not the one who helped cause the Dark Age, she did."
"But she used me as her reason Regis. No matter how we look it those bodies are on my hands." Bell clicked his tongue and threw another carving away.
Regis just shook his head. Bell was just as stubborn as his father, it's probably who he got it from. The dog knew he couldn't change Bell's mind about this. The only one who probably could would be Ardee. But Bell would have to tell her everything first before they crossed that bridge.
