YOU'RE PRETTY TOO, SCOTT.
THE date had been nice. Actually, it was more than nice. Scott was a perfect gentleman, picking her up at her motel room right on time in a plain blue button down that she thought made his eyes shine. He told her she looked beautiful in her dress — it was new. She'd bought it from a boutique that was near the motel, and he liked how the neckline swooped. He even got her flowers. Admittedly, the small bouquet was made of flowers he picked from the small patch of them by the road since there wasn't anywhere that sold them nearby. She loved them nonetheless, already picturing him taking the time to handpick them.
Javi had stood behind him, taking pictures to make fun of him.
When they got to the restaurant, Scott pulled the chair out for her. And he asked her everything he could think of to get to know her better — what kind of music she enjoyed, what getting her marketing degree was like, how long she'd been working on the YouTube channel, how long she'd had Daisy. Everything.
And in return, he gave her his own answers when she showed interest. He really enjoyed his education at MIT, but it was evident he hadn't made any lifelong friends while there. She didn't dare ask, but he offered up the information that his uncle got him the job working for Storm PAR. He liked the work he did, collecting important tornado data to study, but she didn't question on whether he agreed with what his uncle was doing.
That would be the fastest way to ruin a first date.
Scott let her try some of his chicken marsala and a sip of his wine — he adored how her face scrunched up, clearly not a fan as she went back to her lemonade. They split a piece of chocolate cake, and he didn't complain when she scooped up all the frosting, leaving him hardly any.
Then they walked back to the motel, hand in hand, him stopping every few feet to swoop down and kiss her lips sweetly as she giggled.
Finally, they made it back to Scott's motel room, and this time, DJ was incredibly nervous despite having already having sex with Scott the night before. Something in the air felt more intimate as he now stared down at her, his hands resting so gently on her hips in comparison to how rough he'd been the night before.
"Are you sure, Delilah-Jane?" he asked quietly, tracing lines up and down her sides, making her shiver.
She placed her palms flat on his chest. "I'll always be sure about you, Scott. I know I will."
With a soft smile, he led her to the bed by her hand — his dwarfed hers completely, and she didn't think she'd ever get over the sheer size of him. Then he sat her down and got down on both knees, parting her legs so that he could be between them and at eye level with her.
