DJ couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she got out of the truck the next morning. It was a beautiful day, and Scott and her were back to being perfect. And now that she understood why he got so mad at her, she spoke with Tyler. He said he also got where Scott was coming from even if he went about it the wrong way. And Tyler promised to drive a bit more safely when she was in the car.

Even though it was early, Scott and Javi were already outside. While Javi was looking over something on his tablet, Scott was hunched over behind the Lion truck, fiddling with the PAR unit. So, she practically skipped toward him, wrapping her arms around him from behind.

"Good morning, Delilah-Jane," he greeted, using the hand not holding a screwdriver to cover her hands that were clasped on his stomach. And he couldn't forget the dog that suddenly curled around his ankle. "Morning, Daisy."

"Morning, Scott. What are you working on?" she questioned, always eager to learn about his work.

"I am calibrating the sensors to try and see if I can shorten the intervals between data collection," he explained, making her nod as she looked around his body.

"To give you a more accurate picture of the tornado?" she clarified.

He turned and leaned down, kissing her cheek gently. "That's right."

She beamed as he went back to work, and eventually, she slid on top of the tailgate of the truck, just watching him as he worked. And all the while, he kept his left hand on her thigh as his right worked away, his thumb rubbing circles on her skin from where her dress slid up.

"You two are sickeningly sweet sometimes," Javi said while coming over with his tablet. After all, last he'd seen, the two were fighting but how Scott couldn't even keep his hands off her. Literally.

"That's all this one here," Scott said, just nodding his head to DJ as he swapped the screwdriver for a wrench.

"It is," DJ said, beaming at Javi. "How's your morning, Javi?"

He sighed while also leaning down to pet Daisy, needing some of her comfort. "Could be better. Meeting with an investor in a few minutes."

DJ felt how Scott's grip on her thigh tightened, telling her exactly who they were meeting with. His Uncle Riggs.

"Well, make sure to try the diner's pancakes. They're delicious," she said, knowing Scott wouldn't want to talk about it with her. At least not in front of Javi.
