TURNS OUT, SCOTT AND I SHARE A WALL.
THIS time, when DJ woke up, it was perfect. Even as she gently stirred, she could feel a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her close. His other hand was laced in her hair, keeping her against him. And Scott was so warm. She let out a content sigh, burrowing further into his broad chest, and he was clearly already awake as he tightened his hold on her, making her smile.
"Good morning," he whispered softly, slowly guiding her head out of his chest so he could look at her. When he saw her smile, he couldn't help but smile too. She leaned up and let her nose graze his cheek, making him nearly flinch. "Jesus, Delilah-Jane, you're freezing."
"I always run cold," she said, giggling. Then she leaned away from him. "Sorry."
"No, don't even think about that," he said, guiding her face back to his. He brushed his nose against hers, and were anyone else in the room, they'd think Scott was being just as sickeningly sweet as DJ typically was.
"We should get up," she murmured.
He groaned and rolled onto his back, pulling her fully on top of him. "It's a rare clear weather day. Let me just stay in bed with you."
"Yeah, but Javi is leaving for the airport today. And that reporter is supposed to get here at lunchtime. I've got to be there to meet him," she reminded Scott.
She adored how he playfully huffed, something in her incredibly proud to know that she was the only one who got to see this side of Scott.
"Fine," he said, giving in. Scott leaned up to kiss her lips softly, earning a content hum from her.
Then he got out of bed as she sat up, resting against the headboard. She watched with hungry eyes, taking in his bare chest and the way the underwear he'd thrown on to go to sleep hugged him — it did nothing to hide how large he was even when not hard.
Maybe staying in bed was a good idea.
"I've changed my mind," she mumbled, her eyes not exactly on his eyes. "Come back to bed."
Scott grinned, and god, she loved the sight of it. But she hated the sight of him shaking his head.
"No, you were right," he said with a knowing smirk. "But how about a compromise?"
"What kind of compromise?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
He stalked back across the room and leaned down over her, lips hovering near hers. She could just lean up and kiss him but gave him a moment to get his point across.
