We danced in my bedroom,
laughing like little kids.
We felt so small,
yet so desperate.

I kissed you good night,
and you promised me
you would leave in the morning
because that's what adults do:
they love and then they leave.

It's all just a metaphor
for being lonely
and craving love,
for being young
and yet so sad,
and the only thing you truly desire
is for them to look into your brain
and understand everything
that you are too afraid to say.

You only reveal yourself
when it's too dark
for them to look for you.
Darling,
my body is getting cold,
my heart sounds like a broken radio,
and our love fades
to the rhythm of an indie song.

I put flowers in your hair
so you could throw them
at my grave.
Some of us
die young.
