The winter dance was rapidly getting closer and closer.
Much to Jessie's dismay.
It was hilarious how... repulsive, Jessie found the dance. "People just won't shut up about it." She told Leon one day in the cafeteria.
Grinning Leon said, "What else are they gonna talk about? About how hot Mr. Byron is?"
Jessie choked on her hot chocolate. "What? Oh my gosh Leon." She said in between fits of laughter and thumping her chest. "It would take a lot to get someone so impaired as to think Mr. Byron is h-h-h-ho-hoooo- nope, not saying it."
"Byron's hot?" Leon supplied
Jessie pretended to gag. "Nah, he's all yours."
Now it was Leon's turn to spew his hot chocolate everywhere. With wide eyes he said, "J-Jessie!"
"You said it first."
They broke down into uncontrollable laughter.
Coming over to the table, Nita questioned, "What you laughing 'bout?"
"Nothing." Jessie replied quickly.
"Ah," Leon said nonchalantly, "Just about how Jessie has a crush on Mr. Byron."
Nita got confused real fast, saying, "I thought Jessie like you."
"Reeeaaally?" Leon asked slyly. Then leaning towards Jessie, he said, "So, what's this about you liking me?"
Jessie blushed furiously, "Yes, I mean no, I mean, I like you, but not like, well, may-no, well- n- yes, but like-" She cut off when she saw his smug look. Oh, but little did he know she could play the game as well.
Her demeanor turned devious as she looked at Nita. "No, Nita I don't have a crush on Byron, but I do-" She faced Leon as she said the rest with a seductive smile, "-like your brother."
Leon opened and closed his mouth without a sound, heat rising in his neck and cheeks.
Jessie just laughed as Nita continued eyeing them with a suspicious look, telling them- "You guys flirt weird." -before walking away.
The two sat there in awkward silence.
"Um, sorry, Jessie," Leon mumbled, pushing his corn around his plate with his fork, "I didn't mean to make you feel... uncomfortable?"
"Nah, you're fine Leon," Jessie said with a small smile, "I did it too."
"Friends?" Leon asked, looking up at her.
"Friends."
They grinned stupidly at each other.

???'s POV
Wow, she's going to be so excited! I haven't seen her since... the unfortunate occurrence. "Hey mom, how is the application coming?" I yelled down the stairs. Mom shouted 'good' back up to me. I beamed. The plan was coming together. "See you soon-" I whispered to the polaroid picture on my wall, "-Jessie."

Leon took a deep breath to settle his nerves. Today's the day.
He's gonna ask Jessie to the dance.
"Are you WIFI? 'Cause I feel a connection." He said to the mirror, "Did it hurt when you fell from Heaven? Four plus four equals eight, but you plus me equals fate." He winked at the mirror, just to immediately cringe afterwards.
"That hard to watch." Nia said, leaning in his doorway.
Leon jumped back in shock, "Ah!! Nita, you scared me, how long were you there for?"
