It's been a few days since Alyssa moved in with Tyler and his family. The adjustment has been smooth, with Tyler's parents welcoming Alyssa like she's part of the family. Tyler's house is lively, filled with laughter and the aroma of homemade meals. Alyssa, despite the circumstances that brought her there, feels surprisingly at ease.

One evening, after dinner, Tyler and Alyssa are lounging in the living room. The TV is on, but neither of them is paying much attention to it. Tyler's younger sister had already gone to bed, leaving the two of them alone in the cozy, dimly lit room.

Alyssa leans against Tyler, her head resting on his shoulder. It's a comfortable silence, the kind that comes naturally when two people are completely at ease with each other. Tyler glances down at her, smiling to himself. He still can't believe she's here, in his house, so close after all this time.

"So, how are you settling in?" Tyler asks, his voice soft.

Alyssa looks up at him, her eyes warm. "Better than I expected. Your family is amazing, Ty. It's nice to feel... safe."

Tyler's smile falters slightly at the mention of safety. He knows how hard things have been for Alyssa with her mom going abroad and all the uncertainty surrounding her father's treatment. He tightens his arm around her, wanting to offer as much comfort as he can. "You know you can stay here as long as you need to, right? My parents are really happy to have you."

Alyssa nods, her expression softening. "I know. And I'm grateful for that. It's just... I didn't expect everything to change so quickly. Being back here, being with you, it's brought back so many feelings."

Tyler looks at her, his heart pounding a little faster. "What kind of feelings?"

Alyssa hesitates, then takes a deep breath. "Feelings I thought I had buried. You know, when I left, I didn't think I'd ever come back. And breaking up with you... it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do."

Tyler's eyes soften as he listens. "I get it, Alyssa. It was hard for me too. But now that you're here, it feels like... maybe we're getting a second chance."

Alyssa looks into his eyes, searching for something. "Do you really think so?"

Tyler nods, his voice sincere. "Yeah, I do. We've both grown a lot since then, but what we had... I don't think it ever really went away."

There's a charged silence between them, filled with all the emotions they've been holding back. Before Tyler can say anything more, Alyssa closes the distance between them, pressing her lips to his in a kiss that's both tender and full of longing. Tyler responds instantly, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her closer as they lose themselves in the moment.

When they finally break apart, both are breathing a little heavier, their foreheads resting against each other. Alyssa's eyes are bright, a mix of relief and happiness shining through.

Tyler grins, his heart pounding in his chest. "I guess that answers my question."

Alyssa laughs softly, nodding. "Yeah, I guess it does."

They stay like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, the TV still playing in the background, forgotten. It's not just about rekindling an old flame; it's about rediscovering each other in a new way, stronger than before.

Eventually, Tyler leans back, still holding Alyssa close. "So, what's next for us?"

Alyssa smiles, a playful glint in her eyes. "Well, I think we should take it one day at a time. But I'm not planning on going anywhere this time, Ty. I'm here, and I want to be with you."

Tyler's heart swells at her words. "I'm glad you're here, Alyssa. Really glad."

As the night grows later, they find themselves talking about everything and nothing, their connection deepening with each shared word. Being in Tyler's house, with his family around, feels like a new beginning—a chance for them to build something real and lasting.

The evening had settled into a comfortable rhythm as Tyler and Alyssa relaxed on the couch, wrapped up in each other's presence. The TV was still on, but neither was paying much attention to it. They were too focused on the warmth between them, on the easy conversation that flowed back and forth.

Just as they started talking about their plans for the weekend, the sound of tiny footsteps echoed down the hallway. Tyler's younger sister, Lily, who was only six years old, appeared in the doorway, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"Tyler," she called out, her voice filled with the innocence of a child who's just woken up. "Why are you and Alyssa sitting so close?"

Tyler turned to look at his sister, a mix of surprise and amusement on his face. "Hey, Lil. What are you doing up? It's way past your bedtime."

Lily, ignoring the question, padded over to the couch with a mischievous grin. "Are you two... kissing?" she asked, her voice rising with excitement.

Alyssa couldn't help but laugh at Lily's candidness, her cheeks turning pink. "We were just talking, Lily. You should be in bed."

But Lily wasn't convinced. She climbed onto the couch and squeezed herself between them, giggling as she did. "But I saw you! You like her, don't you, Tyler?"

Tyler chuckled, ruffling his sister's hair. "Yeah, I do, Lil. I like her a lot."

Lily's eyes sparkled with the kind of excitement only a little girl can have when she's discovered something big. "Does that mean Alyssa's your girlfriend now?"

Tyler glanced at Alyssa, who was watching him with a smile that was both amused and affectionate. "Yeah, I think it does," he said, his voice gentle.

Lily clapped her hands, clearly delighted by this new development. "Yay! Does that mean Alyssa will stay with us forever?"

Alyssa laughed, leaning down to look Lily in the eye. "Maybe not forever, but I'll be here for a while."

Lily beamed, then suddenly jumped up from the couch. "I'm gonna tell Mom and Dad that you two are in love!" she declared, her little feet already carrying her towards the door.

"Lily, wait!" Tyler called after her, laughing. But it was too late—she was already halfway down the hall, her giggles echoing through the house.

Alyssa shook her head, still smiling. "Well, she's definitely got a big personality."

Tyler grinned, wrapping an arm around Alyssa's shoulders and pulling her close again. "Yeah, she does. But don't worry, she'll forget all about this by morning."

Alyssa leaned into him, still chuckling. "I don't mind. It's kind of sweet, actually."

Tyler kissed the top of her head, feeling more content than he had in a long time. "I guess it's official then. The whole family knows now."

Alyssa looked up at him, her eyes twinkling. "And how do you feel about that?"

Tyler smiled down at her, his voice full of warmth. "Honestly? I'm pretty happy about it."

They settled back into their comfortable position on the couch, the moment Lily's innocence bringing lightness to the night. It was clear that Alyssa was quickly becoming a part of Tyler's family, and neither of them would have it any other way.
