“Can I ask you something?”, Brett went when the brain fog had dissipated somewhat after they’d shared another deep kiss.
“Hmm?”, Eddy said with closed eyes, his head in Brett’s arms against Brett’s chest by now which put Brett in the perfect position to play with Eddy’s hair.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but you seem like zero unsure when it comes to… how do I put this… interacting with me in terms of romantic stuff…”
The most inarticulate sentence anyone had used to try to communicate something. A miracle Eddy got what he meant.
“I do?”, he asked back with raised brows.
“Uh, yeah. At least based on what I’ve seen so far. So how come you thought you would never sway anyone?”
“Hmm”, Eddy hummed in thought, “I don’t know… I just do what feels right with you, you know.”
“I see…” It sure as hell felt right for Brett, whatever they did.
“But for reals, I never thought someone would ever… you know… react to me like you just did.”
A faint blush tinted the lovely being in Brett’s arms. Brett didn’t need a mirror to know his redness greatly surpassed Eddy’s.
“A lot of my demeanor is based on me either not caring what others think or me being insecure and hiding it behind a tough appearance, if you know what I mean. It can come across as cold. I preferred that to being vulnerable though, so I went with it.”
“It sure feels like you know exactly what you want and what effect you have on others.”
On him to be precise. As if every touch, every glare was designed to draw Brett closer to him, make him his…
Eddy shook his head lightly, tickling Brett’s chin with his hair. “I don’t, really. And it’s very different with you. You make it easy for me to open up, even though I didn’t always want to, at least not in the beginning.”
Brett remembered the few times Eddy had shared personal and hard stuff, giving Brett a glimpse of the deeper layers of his wonderful personality.
“I’m glad you did.”
“As I’ve said before, you make me feel safe.”
“Same.”They lay there in the grass, enjoying each other’s presence and well, the safety that came with it.
“I could fall asleep now.”
“We just had coffee, didn’t we?”
“Woke up too early”, Brett yawned, his fingers still gently brushing through Eddy’s hair which had an almost bronze shine to it in the specks of sunlight coming through the leaves above them. It was mesmerizing.
“What? Why?”
“Dunno. Nervous, I guess? But it gave me time to bring breakfast, so don’t complain.”
“I’m not. Was the best start into the day I had this summer, I reckon.”
“Because of the food or because of me?”, the cheeky part of Brett took over again, giving him instant cringe over himself and all he could do was to scrunch his eyes shut.
Eddy’s chuckle was warm when he sat up a bit and turned his head so he could face Brett with a certain glint in his eyes. “What do you think?”, he whispered and leaned over like he had minutes before. It started off as a sweet kiss with only a hint of what they’d already shared this morning but oh, it was so easy for Brett to lose himself already.
“You know”, Eddy said against Brett’s lips, “You’re not the only one who’s affected.”
“Yeah?” Brett didn’t moan but it was an embarrassingly close thing since the mere thought of him having any effect on Eddy made his head swim.
“Hmm”, Eddy simply answered and deepened their connection with Brett responding instantly. It was basically muscle memory taking over when his hands pulled Eddy closer, when his chest pressed itself against Eddy’s, relishing the quick heartbeat he detected through Eddy’s shirt and the increasing heat between them, inside them. Eddy’s hand on the small of Brett’s back didn’t help with not losing his mind completely and soon, way too soon for Brett’s taste, they backed away from another.“Can’t let myself go too far”, Eddy breathed with slightly quivering eyelids and clearly dilated pupils, which had to be the most arousing phenomenon Brett had ever witnessed.
“I’d be okay with that”, Brett huffed and Eddy laughed.
“Oh love! I have lots on the list though, so if you may...”
He sprung to his feet and held out a hand, pulling Brett up in one go.
“Does your list include us making out in your room?”
“You’ll see”, Eddy winked, shouldered his case and picked up the empty cups from the ground. Brett mirrored his actions and after they found a bin, Eddy took Brett’s hand like he had many times before.A/N: Bit shorter chapter than usual 🙈 but too busy and too little time to write 🥲.
