The group found a wooden cabin in the forest and quickly barricaded themselves. The moment they walked in, Ian let go of Carmen and took Peanut out of his backpack (they left one part open so he could breathe, but they couldn't carry him in their hands so they could defend walkers), and Shane and Boris quickly put a drawer in front of the door. "If you touch me one more time I'll bash your head with a bat," Carmen glared up at Ian, who didn't take her seriously at all and rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, okay, buddy. I really bet your five-foot-something ass would even be able to reach my head." There was a minute of silence, and the only thing that could be heard was walkers slamming against the cabin door, trying to get in. Boris quickly changed his position with Carly, so she was helping Shane while he took Carmen and dragged her away to the corner of the cabin once he saw her hand itching for her knife.
She was about to protest, but he cut her off. "No, this is not the time," His voice was hushed so only Carmen could hear him. "You don't wanna stick with them, fine, we'll leave after we get out of this shit. But you gotta calm down first, Carms. 'Cause we can't leave them if we die now." Carmen hated how he called her Carms. Josh called her Carms, and he's dead now. Glenn called her dead, he's also most likely dead. Rick, Carl, and Dorothy called her that, and they are also most likely dead.
"Fine, but don't call me that," She rolled her eyes and huffed through her nose. Carmen rubbed her nose, and she looked to her side, into one of the rooms. She saw another door in another cabin room and entered the room.
"Where are you going? You see something?" Carly asked her once she saw her leave.
"'Nother exit maybe," Carmen answered quietly. There were no windows in the rooms so she couldn't see anything outside. She grabbed the doorknob and opened the door. She regretted doing so because there were more walkers outside, waiting for them. She gasped and slammed the door shut.
"Is everything okay?" Shane asked from the other room because they couldn't see what was happening, but they heard her gasp.
"No, everythin's fine." Carmen composed herself before making her way back. "We have a plan?" Carmen asked quietly, looking down at the floor.
"We wait until they leave," Shane shrugged.
"Nah, man, they'll break the door down." Everyone turned to the door as more slams were heard and the door made a cracking sound. It was not the most secure door, that's for sure.
"Can we try and outrun them?" Boris asked.
"Too risky. Sure, if it was just a group of walkers but this is a herd," Carly put her face in her hands and rubbed her eyes. Peanut noticed the distressed situation and stood up on the paws, putting his front paws on her legs and nuzzling his face in her leg, letting out a small wincing sound.
"We sacrifice the dog," Shane suggested but Carly and Ian immediately glared at him.
"No fucking way," Carly told him firmly.
"Love you, man, but I love the dog more." As Ian and Carly start arguing with Shane about Peanut, Carmen makes her way to the window and pushes the blinds to the side slightly to see the situation outside. Walkers were covering the entire yard of the cabin. However, she furrowed her brows slightly when she saw one of the walkers beginning to climb a tree. She tilted her head in confusion and pressed her ear closer to the window once she heard something outside. It was like a whisper but it echoed through the herd of walkers. It was like a whisper or someone talking loudly but also in a hushed tone-- at least that's how Carmen would explain it. She looked back at the field and felt someone come up behind her. She glanced and saw Boris looking at the walker who climbed the tree.
