The guys were finally off their asses in training, each working their hardest to reach their full potential to become the green ninja. I spun my weapon, slamming it into the ground, and gasped softly as gems started to grow in the direction that I slammed it in, each with vibrant colors and glittering in the sunlight in their natural, rough forms. I saw Topaz, Sapphire, Diamonds, and Apatite with a few more gems. Just as I was about to pick up an Apatite gem shard at my feet, the ground froze, my feet stuck in place. "Really Zane?!" The boys came over to me, Kai melting the ice at my feet with his fire sword. I smiled at him thankfully, and sighed, crouching down to pick up a small chunk of raw Apatite.
"This roof isn't big enough for the five of us."
"Correction, this roof isn't big enough for him." Cole said as he motioned to Zane, who was still training.
"It's like he's in his own little world. I bet he can't even hear us." Jay said, the second sentience louder than the first. No reaction.
"How am I supposed to figure out what I summoned, if I can't examine them?" I said, holding up the stone to the sun and watched the refraction in the light. This had flecks of gold in the amber color, kind of like Kai's eyes. Don't ask how I know that. I put it in the pocket of my Gi as sensei walked over to us.
"Sensei, Zane's weird."
"What is weird? Someone who is different? Or someone who is different from you?"
"No sensei he's weird, weird. I was using the bathroom and he came in and just started brushing his hair."
"Or the time he laughed at a sad part of a movie."
"I went for a midnight snack, and he was sitting in the fridge. He then offered me cheese."
"I asked him to go to town and get some menstrual pads for me and he brought back small cotton pads. I specifically said why I needed pads, and what kind, and he just blinked at me when I explained this was not what I needed. He walked away and didn't say anything for two hours."
"Maybe he was just confused?"
"Or embarrassed?"
"Guys, it's not a big deal. I have to go and buy Nya pads every couple of months. Zane's a smart guy, it's not like he would have cared. Maybe he misunderstood." Kai said, patting my shoulder. As the guys explained to sensei how they still like Zane, Kai turned to me. "Seriously though, if you need those things and you can't get them yourself cause of the cramps or something, just let me know." I nod.
"Thanks Kai."
"Zane is a brother, and brothers are often different. I would know." The gong sounded, and we all smiled, heading to the door excitedly.
"Mail!" We opened the door to see the mail man, exhausted from the steps. "Let's see, a letter from Jay's parents. Kai has a fan letter, something from Cole's father-"
"What? No package? I'm expecting something from creatures, beasts and beyond."
"No, nothing like- Oh! Here it is!"
"Heh, Rocky's gonna love this!" he said, rushing away.
"And y/n, you have a few letters. Two from your brothers, and something from your mother." I sighed.
"Thank you. Do you need some water?"
"No thank you, I'm good. Remembered it this time." I saw him off and opened the letters from my brothers, seeing they were both doing well in ninjago city. Ollie was starting his master's degree, while Chris had found a girlfriend. I smiled at the photo of the three of them together, a girl I didn't know hugging Chris. She had beautiful brown hair that was up in a ponytail, and light freckles dusting her cheeks. Her right cheek had a dimple, and her teeth were slightly crooked, but her smile was still genuine and happy. They looked so happy together, and I wiped away a tear. Kai came up to me.
