After I calmed down with Kai and convinced him to not go and kill my mother, I laid on my bed, my eyes hurting. Maybe I should take the contacts out? "You good?"
"Yeah, my eyes are just hurting." I explain to Kai. "I think I've just had my contacts in too long."
"Okay, so switch to your glasses for the night then." I look at him, my expression unimpressed. "I doubt we'll have any emergency missions tonight, and even if we do, they can wait a few minutes while you get your contacts back in." I sigh.
"Fine. But don't be surprised if the rest of the group starts to act weird. I've never worn my glasses in front of them."
"Never?" I shake my head. "Y/n, you've been here for nearly two years!"
"So? I take them out before I go to bed." I grab my glasses and head into my little bathroom. Kai's right. There probably won't be any more missions tonight, and I decide to grab some clean clothes and take a shower. If I throw my hair up, it might not be so obviously curly.
"Do you want me to get out, or-"
"I really don't care either way. I'm getting dressed in the bathroom, so..." He decided to find a simpler book to try and read through since we only had a singular phone for the monastery, while I went for a much-needed shower.
I came back out dressed in comfy clothes and toweling off my hair. "Why don't you use a hairdryer?" Kai asked.
"If I blow-dry, it poofs out everywhere. I have to treat my hair with respect if I want it to cooperate with me." I said as I scrunched it up with the towel. I had already run it through with a frizz spray, and I worked on brushing it out, the curls bouncing every which-way. Kai stared in awe. "What is it? you're staring." I sighed. "If it's because I look ridiculous-"
"You're beautiful..." I hear him say quietly, and I pause in my hair-brushing. "Wait, did I say that out loud? I... Uh-" He groaned. "I... I mean it though. I don't get why you cover it."
"Kai, there's a lot of things I'm just used to covering about myself. This isn't even my natural hair color." I explain. "My mom's been making me dye it blonde like this for as long as I can remember." I sigh. "It's just a habit now to keep it this way."
"What are you naturally?"
"H/c." (Sorry if you're actually blonde btw)
He just looks at me, and I finish brushing my hair, putting it into a braid for the night. "I think you'd look nice with your natural color." I smile shyly.
"Well, let's go. It's Zane's night to cook." I say, exiting my room, Kai following close behind me.
"Who the hell are you?!" Jay screams as soon as I step into the dining room.
"Jay, shut up." I snap at him and sit down, trying to keep my breathing steady.
"Y/n?!" He yells, almost louder this time.
"Jay, just shut it." Kai says this time. He looks at me, exasperated.
"You have glasses?! And- are those freckles I see too?!"
"Jay-"
"You look adorable!" He practically lunges at me as I sit down, tackling me in a hug. "Oh, if now you'd let your hair be h/c again!"
"I agree with jabberjay here. Dyeing it as much as you do can't be good for it." I chuckle a little.
"I'll think about it. But the glasses are a one-time thing. I'm only wearing them cause my contacts were bugging me."
